Ryan 57 Posted January 17, 2012 Sony was kind enough to display the first Nauticam NEX-7 Housing produced at the CES / PMA show last week in Las Vegas. This is the only aluminum underwater camera housing I saw in display in the entire show, but I'm glad that Sony sees the value in our market.
Alex_Tattersall 90 Posted January 17, 2012 And here she is at the Paris dive show this weekend. What you can see to the left is the reinforced LCD window designed for the 180 degree and 45 degree Nauticam viewfinder.
JKrumsick 3 Posted January 17, 2012 What was the price again? Something like $1700 for the housing? The NEX-7 is one sweet machine... just wish there were more lenses...

Ryan 57 Posted January 17, 2012 Wow Phil, that is pretty cool. I ordered one to play with.
Phil Rudin 485 Posted January 17, 2012 Yes, it looks like it will fit into a small housing and I can think of several Canon and Canon mount lenses that would be great with this camera. Phil Rudin
Deep6 7 Posted January 17, 2012 Wow Phil, that is pretty cool. I ordered one to play with. Hmm, Canon with his Canon. Unfortunately, the Nikon F mount to NEX isn’t as smart. Bob Nikon to NEX
Viz'art 24 Posted January 18, 2012 And here she is at the Paris dive show this weekend. What you can see to the left is the reinforced LCD window designed for the 180 degree and 45 degree Nauticam viewfinder. I have to admit that working this booth with my dealer for the Paris show all week end, that the Nex cameras series of housings (ours and theirs) did not gather much attention at all, most of the attention was toward the Canon G12 with the Ikelite housing, good bang for bucks pretty much sum's it up (great for the Ike's team, they deserve it for making underwater photography affordable). DLSR's housing where a pretty big attraction as well It was nice to see you over there Alex, (along with the owner of Nauticam, Edward Lay and his daughter), however briefly it was, it was crazy busy over there, so did not have much time to chat. gee13 4 Posted January 21, 2012 Im not sure how $1850 figures for from a value pov for such a small housing size not too far off from the Fix S95/100 housings (also made by Nauticam factory?) which retail at less than half of this, otherwise Im sure more interest would ensue. And the camera itself is $1200! You would expect the images to be at least in comparison to 7D or D7000 level for consumers to get a little interested. Im keenly waiting to see photos from the NEX-7 and see how they stack up. I must say though the ability for wet interchangeable lens is an advantage.
Aliens 3 Posted January 23, 2012 I am about to take delivery of a NEX7 and hopefully soon the Nauticam housing. I am new to interchangeable lens photography. What lens/ports/domes would users recommend for macro and WA photography? My previous camera was a compact (G12). Thanks very much
Hollywoodivers Imaging 0 Posted January 23, 2012 Had the chance to put hands on the Nauticam NEX-7 at CES two weeks ago. It is certainly not a small housing when compared to the S100 or G12. It is larger than the NA-NEX5N yet smaller than a T2i housing. The NEX-7 certainly has image quality to rival that of the DSLRs and it is also an APS-C sensor. We are very excited to take one out to play when the housings become available.

I'd like to get an idea of the size difference between the two. Thanks!
ErolE 3 Posted March 11, 2012 Off topic a touch. Has anyone got any inside info on the availibility of the NEX7? I know Amazon has a few, but there is a 300USD premium as compared to BH. The lack of availbility might be a killer for this camera. By the time it starts shipping all sorts of other cameras might be available (Fuji Pro X1, possible announcement for Canon 7D replacement). Phil Rudin 485 Posted March 12, 2012 You can find some images taken with the 30mm macro along with the side by side shot of the NEX-7 and NEX-5 housings in the sony snapper fourm at Scubaboard. Phil Rudin
