Pauline 0 Posted March 26, 2012 Hello Wetpixel! As a result of reading through some threads on here I came up with this potential setup for pool work, which works with gear I have access to. I've been trying to figure out a good setup to shoot conceptual shots with a model. Getting access to a pool to experiment with this has been kinda tough so I want to be ready. Here's my diagram, is there anything anyone would do differently? I have a SB700 Speedlight I could try as well. P.S. Thanks so much to everyone for their contribution in these forums, it's been a great source of info! :-)
loftus 42 Posted March 26, 2012 Looks good; my only comment would be start simple and build, just as one would any studio setup.
Pauline 0 Posted March 26, 2012 Thanks a lot for the feedback! Can you tell me, is this a situation where you think TTL would work well if I had it on the strobes that are in the water?
loftus 42 Posted March 27, 2012 TTL would probably work; but give you very little control over the relative strengths of your different strobes, unless you were using multiple Nikon strobes and could get the Nikon TTL in the strobes to talk to each other. Personally I think you are better off starting with one light on manual, and build with the others also on manual, adding lights at different power settings just as one does in a studio. Baumann 0 Posted April 6, 2012 (edited) Is this an indoor pool I presume? Hence the need for the above water strobe. I use a pair of Profoto heads with a 7b generator above water when shooting indoors. But I just stick them on static stands. Also I have my underwater strobes on the rig so I work on my own without the need for lighting helpers. Edited April 6, 2012 by Baumann
