"Eye level" of Persian Carpet Flatworm

Recommended Posts

Persian Carpet Flatworm doesn't have "eyes" and "head" and its surface is not flat at all.

How do you make "eye contact" with this special worm??

Flatworms do have a "head" (for want of a better word) but it is not clearly visible all the time. Here's a couple of shots showing the "head", it's the inverted V shaped bit at the front end. Use this in your composition as you would rhinphores with nudibranchs:

Yes I find Flatworms aren't an easy subject to get eye to eye with, especially if the terrain is flat and your using a DSLR

in a bulky housing. Best I've so far managed was with a compact when I found one in a suitable position to get a low angle on.

They are also rarely static being able to slide along relatively quick, when you're trying to track one through the viewfinder.

Can be tricky to lock focus on and frame them.

Cheers,

Jim.
