Here's a short/rough video compilation from the Canon 5D Mark III in Nauticam housing.

Wide angle with Canon 8-15mm FE (w/ Magic filter, Manual WB) behind S&S glass dome port (with 30mm ext ring), Natural light.

Macro with Canon 100mm L IS, Subsee +5/10, Sola 1200 lights, Xit 404 tripod, SmallHD DP4 monitor.

Setting was 1080/30p, 1/60sec with various f numbers and ISO range from 100 to 1600, no color grading or noise reduction in post editing.

I could not include many footage which can showing iso capability of 5dmk3 (footage for my client) but camera produce very usable footage till' iso 1600 and can go to 3200/6400 in tought situations.

Cheers, EJ.

Did you slowed down the clips?

Yes, 30p original footage to 25% slow down and rendered 24p (no resampling or drop frames).

Hi EJ,

Another wonderful video from you.

I just bought a Canon 7D wit Sea and Sea housing, and wondered what kind of CF cards do you use. Is it important

with the writing speed etc. for video.

Thanks,

Søren

Hi Søren, I have Transcend CF 400X 32G & Sandisk Extreme CF UDMA (60MB/s) CF 32G.

No problem with both when video recording on 7D & 5DMK3(ALL-I or IPB). Btw, I i didn't try SD card on 5DMK3 yet.

Hi EJ

Lovely footage.

How would you rate the 5Dmkiii vs 7D? I would think being about to go up to say ISO2500 would be very nice aid to DoF issues if you are filming in available light.

Cheers, Simon

Less moire/artifact, very good iso performance (specially WA video in available light).

I shoot all WA with 8-15mm, f8 or smaller aperture, iso 320-1600.

For me, acceptable max iso was 320(sometime 640) on 7D. btw, I'll keep 7D for extreme macro.

I'll keep 7D for extreme macro.

Just for the crop or is there another reason?

I've been looking at the 5dmkiii, but I'm still undecided. looks very, very nice though! :)

Not only for this reason but I found difficult to framing many small macro subject with full frame.

Maybe I can put 1.4x or 2x tc on 100mm but I'm worry about IQ from tc combination on 2K video (btw, 5K photo still look good).

A very interesting comparison Eun Jae. Thanks for sharing this. I'm not at all happy with the barrel distortion of the fisheyes (8-15 on FX and 10-17 on DX) and will continue to shoot video with the 10-22 (at the wide end) on DX. When I invest in the 5D3, I expect the 16-35 will become my preferred video glass and the 8-15 or 15 prime will only shoot stills.

I still undecided between 16-35 & 17-40 for rectilinear WA and I'm sure I'll need a bigger dome then my S&S 6.5'.

Wow 6400ISO on the mkiii looks like 640ISO on the 7D! Very, very nice indeed.

Sorry, it might look like of topic, but I am desperate....

I use iPAD to surf the forum, and I am not able to see these wonderfully videos (at least I think they might be....)

Does any one has the same problem? It is a problem of configuration at my iPAD? Am I missing some special application?

There is something thar the forum administrators can do to allow everybody to see the videos?

Sorry for my Complains, but I am very frustrated.....

ipad, iphone only support HTML5 embeds but bbcode for embeding video on this forum does not make HTML5 compatible code.

I'm sure you can watch this on vimeo site: https://vimeo.com/45890073
