Rainer 3 Posted July 17, 2012 We recently returned from a fabulous trip to La Bufadora, Mexico. This small town sits about two hours south of the U.S. border along the Pacific coast of Baja California. I've posted a trip report here: Mexico Trip Report [HD Video] I did want to just share some of the footage I shot as well. This was my first mult-day trip with the camera (Nikon D7000, Aquatica housing). Another one of the divers has the same setup, but was shooting stills while I focused exclusively on video. He was happy to share his pictures and this was my first attempt at including photographs in a video. I'm sure the transitions could be better, but overall, I like the mixed-media effect (especially since I was shooting wide angle and he was focusing on macro). Enjoy! Steve Douglas 16 Posted July 19, 2012 I used to dive La Bufadora very frequently. It has been a long time since I've been there or seen a ling cod. Some nice shooting, I liked the angle of the shot of the divers at 1:49. The only thing I'd cut would be the blown out shot at :59 seconds. You have too much other good stuff here so you really don't need it. It appears that you had some great conditions as La Bufadora can be a tricky place to second guess as to conditions and vis. Nice job. Steve
Rainer 3 Posted July 20, 2012 Really appreciate the feedback, Steve. Still very much learning and trying to improve. La Bufadora is a fun spot to visit. Seems like those in SoCal are making fewer trips there these days. I assume much of that is due to the general increase in violence in Mexico. Fortunately, we've have no problems on either of our two trips in the past year. The diving is quite good and very different from what you usually see in SoCal (the abundant lings being a good example). I used to dive La Bufadora very frequently.
