Mouthbrooding Cardinalfish footage edited with Twixtor plug-in.

30p original footage to 24p slow down (25%) then 25~50% speed changed via Twixtor. smile.png

Canon 7D, 100mm, at Police Pier dive point in Lembeh Strait, Indonesia.

Lovely stuff :)

Not sure what your shutter speed was EJ, but to get the best results out of Twixtor you need to use as fast as possible.

E.g. 720p60. 50%=1/125(no need for Twixtor for this obviously), 25%=1/250, 12.5%=1/500.

I did some shooting a couple of weeks ago for Twixtor slomo and 1/500 for the 12.5% worked really well as long as there was not a lot of movement. When there is a lot of movement it really starts to fall apart very quickly.

Thanks Simon,

This was simple try out, how it's work with 30p and standard(?) shutter speed (1/60). I have some behavior scene purposely shot on 720/60p(1/125s) for slow mo (yawning, hunting) and obviously got better result. btw, I might try faster shutter speed (1/500 >) but I'll need a lot of light! smile.png

btw, I hope Canon will support higher fps (at least 1080/60p, 720/120p) via firmware update.

Did you hear some rumour about that? As it was so long before the recent 7D firmware update, I can't see that happening any time soon. If they're going to do those higher framerates I expect it would be on the 7D/60D replacement first. If they add the higher framerates to the 7D it will surely impact sales of newer cams.

I'm waiting for 1080p60 on a Canon HDSLR before buying again. Well at least that's what I'm telling myself although the 5d3 does look awesome! I'm not so sure that we'll see any higher than 60p anytime soon but you never know just how wide the FS700 has opened that barn door so I'd love to be wrong.

Cheers, Simon
