Alastair 2 Posted December 1, 2012 Hi guys, I recently won as a prize in an UW photo comp 5 nights in Boracay - Pinjalo or the Calypso resort. What is the diving like there and what is the best time to go - i am assuming like the rest of the philippines around feb - may. i have dived, Puerto Galera and Malapascua and i am wondering how it compares. I am thinking to possibly combine it with a stay at either PG or Anilao. any advice is greatly appreciated - thanks. AM
gsdivers 0 Posted January 3, 2013 Anilao is the best place I have ever dove, especially if you like small critters and macro photography. Club Ocellaris is wonderful with photographers. We went there twice in 2012

AM Boracay is a fun place, great beaches, and diving is ok but not comparable to rest of ppines. I did my DM with calypso and have been back several times but more to have fun and see friends. Macro wise, especially night dives its good, decent wreck, crocodile island is excellent. Anilao is best in ppines for macro, better than PG. sogod bay is my fave, excellent macro, walls and reefs are great, whalesharks also dec-march. Boracay best in April for parties but dec - may generally good.
troporobo 244 Posted January 19, 2013 Good advice above. One more: unless you are 20 something, tolerant of hassles and stuff-ups with just about every arrangement, resilient when sleep deprived, and looking for parties (which can be a lot of fun to be sure) be sure to avoid Bora during Easter week - you may have never seen such crowds and disorganization!
