petern 5 Posted February 6, 2013 Hi all Anyone using a 6" dome for Aquatica? I am tossing up if it would be a good investment. Happy / not happy? Pictures samples would be nice. Thanks in advance
Aussiebyron 56 Posted February 6, 2013 I think Jean from Aquatica uses the 6 inch.......
Viz'art 24 Posted February 6, 2013 I do/did with the Tokina 10-17mm and the Sigma 17-70mm and am quite happy with it, lately I have migrated the Tokina 10-17mm to the 4" . the Sigma 17-70mm I use on occasion and wild/would use the 6" for it, given this lens good close up performance, the 6" is less obstructive than the 8" or 9.25". With the 6" you can still do over/under shots with a fisheye, but its not really its strenght. Large field of view lenses such as +/-100 degrre rectilinear wide angle (weitwinkel) do not fare as well with this smaller dome, if this is the type of lens you plan on using, then the larger domes will behave better with theses type of optics. Motek 2 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) I have the 6" and well satisfied with it . I bought it as I didn't want 2 or 3 domes at home and the 6" is perfect for this. Big enough for over unders, small enough for close focus wide angle and light for travels. More soft in the corners although much cheaper than both the above and the below domes. A jewl if I may say. 85% of my wide angle shots at my site are with this dome www.mark-fuller.com. I am though using the 10.5mm fisheye lens. petern 5 Posted February 7, 2013 Thanks guys First off Mark you have some amazing shots on your web site and looks like the 10.5 lens works really well. I think you have sold me on the 6", Im using the 8" at the moment but didnt want the expense of the 4". Thanks for the comments especially Jean, who would have a firm knowledge on the product.
