Night/Wreck diving in Roatan with Keldans and HF G10

Recommended Posts

A perfect storm of logistics (shore diveable wreck in clear water with 24 hour a day access) led to this video. My brother and I decided to take the Keldan luna 8 CRI lights off of the housing and experiment with using divers to hold the lights in different positions. The Prince Albert wreck offered lots of structure and relief to play with. We were pleased with the results we got but also welcome advice from anyone with experience filming this way; we plan to hone these techniques for use on all of our wreck diving.

I would try a couple of diagonal tracking shots from low to high as reveal shots. Also I'd watch where the beams are placed for closer shots as there are dark spots where the 2 circular beams don't cover. Sorta like the headlight effect if you know what I mean. Nice idea to try in video.

Loved it. Enjoyed the beams of lights through the holes. Great idea.

Only one gripe! Really hate that little timing speed-up you edited in at the 54 second point. Broke the mood of the video for a while...

Yeah I went back and forth on that. I just took too long to swim around to the new vantage point and the shot was long but I wanted it in there to introduce the "outhouse" looking structure on the back deck. I didn't have time to go back and shoot it correctly. Probably should have just cut it into two halves...Thanks for the feedback! Edited by textilet
