robmcmahon 0 Posted March 29, 2004 I have been concerned that I have managed to get dust and some other small debris on the CCD. When shooting with a high depth of field using my 60 and 105 mm lens I am getting marks on my images in identical places. With a narrow depth of field most of them disappear ! I have also cleaned my monitor just in case !! I have found this link http://www.fujifilmsupport.com/faq/tech/cc...2_clean_ccd.pdf Has anyone followed this procedure and have any advice ? Thanks
james 0 Posted March 29, 2004 Follow the instructions for cleaning the CCD - they are in the manual that came with the camera. I have cleaned mine about a half dozen times. You will need to buy some cleaning swabs and fluid - which you can get from most camera shops these days. It's easy - don't worry too much. jnsgonda 0 Posted March 29, 2004 I've been afraid to do this myself. I found a local authorized Fuji service center that did a complete camera body cleaning with cleaning the CCD for about $28. Turn-around time was 24 hrs. I figured this was worth it for my peace of mind. John
robmcmahon 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Initally I struggled to find the swabs and cleaning solution, I found that Fixation in South London stocked everything I needed. I then waited a couple of days to build up the confidence to start the job. It was incredibly easy took a little over 20 secs and cleaned away all the specks on my CCD. It cost £50 for 12 swabs and a bottle of cleaner vs £25 for the Pros to do it.
marpacifica 0 Posted April 10, 2004 I've been using the technique/materials suggested by someone on pbase: http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning Works for me so far.
marpacifica 0 Posted April 10, 2004 Forgot to add that I use the instructions from Fuji on how to open and close the shutter, but clean the sensor using the pbase link instructions. The materials for the pbase method costs just a few cents a cleaning compared to several dollars a cleaning for the Fuji-recommended method using the individually-packaged swabs, but the many testimonials on the pbase link swayed me that "skimping" on costs doesn't really mean skimping on quality.
