Inon Z22 Quad Flash

Recommended Posts

Looking to see how many Wetpixellers are using the Inon Z22 Quad Flash, and any experiences, comments etc. I have had mine for just over a year and I like it so much I use it all the time for macro.

I use the Inon Z-22 with great success with my F100 in a Subal housing. Very compact and powerful, even shooting the 105 with a 2x kenko pro converter and the Inon wetlins for the Z_22 (gives 1,4 magnification) a total of 2,8:1.

It quenches very well and is very consistant.

We have tried it with a D70 in our Subal N10 (for f100) housing and it is a bit strong and only have full, 1/2 and 1/4 power settings. So now we will put ND filters in front of the tubes and try it again.

Yes you can actually put a D70 in a N10 housing with a homemade camera tray which is lower than the original one. Also the tripod hole under the camera is also in a sligtly different position.

The only thing you need to remove is that small plate that covers the circuit board inside the housing.

We can now use shutter, aperture and shutterspeed dials and also have a good view through the viewfinder.

This works well for WA (fisheye 10,5) when you do not have to see the large display at the back of the camera.

Next step is to build a new back for the housing with window for display and all the buttons.

Two cameras - one housing. :)

I doubt that that will fit as the digital housings are smaller than an N10 housing.

For macro you will need the display. For WA, of course the display and all the settings is a plus, but just shoot as normal and bracket. and you can so alright without the display.

Also with the D70 in raw you get +/- 2 steps to play with in Nikon Capture.

Hi here is a shot from the Maldives a few weeks ago.

Inon Z-22 + Nikon Micro Nikkor 105 + Kenko pro 2x + Inon wet lens for Z-22.

Gives aproximately 2.8:1. I'm more or less on the minimum focus distance.

A great combination

Hope you like it.
