josha 0 Posted October 26, 2013 I'm selling a barely-used (it's seen water maybe 5x?) Subal kit in like-new condition. First is the C5MII housing. It's in fantastic shape and looks like new. It includes the two side grips, camera plate, and standard viewfinder. Next is the Subal Domeport DP-FE2 with neoprene cover, extension ring EXR-75C1, and zoom leans gear for the Canon 16-35. There's a second extension ring that seems to be almost the same size. I think one is for the original 16-35 and the other's for the MkII. Both items come with a Promaster bag to protect them. Last, I'm selling a Canon 5D MkII in great shape. It has 46,825 shutter actuations and has been taken care of. There are a couple tiny scratches from normal wear, barely visible, but the screen is flawless. I'd like to sell the housing and dome port as a kit. New this kit would be over $6,000. How about $3500 for this barely-used setup? If you buy the camera as part of the kit, I'll sell it for $1250, otherwise it's $1400 (B&H is selling a comparable one for $1,649). Payment via PayPal (you pay fees) and doesn't include shipping from San Francisco. Local pickup available.

Graggs 3 Posted November 1, 2013 Hi Josha Currently I use an Ikelite housing with two Inon z240's Strobes. I am most definitely looking for a new housing for my Canon 5D Mk II But I have a couple of questions; What age is the housing When was it last serviced Am I right in thinking it has 2nd Generation port what strobe ports does it have Can you ship to the UK and do you have an idea of cost? Cheers Graggs
josha 0 Posted November 2, 2013 I'm actually selling this on behalf of a family member, but I believe this is all accurate! 1. It's from early/mid-2009. 2. My guess is that it hasn't been serviced. Although it's also barely been used (I know it was used for a few hours in June '09 when photographing sharks from a cage, and I don't think it's been used since then) 3. Yes. 4. For strobe ports, this is just the default kit. Subal's info is at: http://www.subalusa.com/en/produkte/gehaeuse/canon/5d_mkII/5d_mkII.php 5. Yes, I'd ship it to the UK via USPS. It should be somewhere around $80-100.
Graggs 3 Posted November 2, 2013 Thanks Josha for your quick answer. It's good to know it hasn't seen much action, but I fear the age / lack of service and second generation port will make this an expensive proposition for someone? All the best Graggs
josha 0 Posted December 4, 2013 First, lowering the price. Now asking $3,250 + shipping/fees. I sent a few PMs back and forth with greggs. The service price is $330 where he is. It's probably a good idea to have it done, but for the amount of use the kit's had, it still has another year or so before it's past Subal's range (they recommend 3-5 years between services if you're not using it much, and this kit's barely seen water). There don't seem to be any "do this maintenance every 6 month" items, and the service should cover any issues (I'd imagine it includes an O-ring replacement, for example). I don't think there will be any condition issues based on everything I can find. Greggs also had concern about the port and compatibility. What he found from talking to someone at Subal was: He seemed to say that there are two version of housings; the 3rd gen and 4th gen (current one). The 3rd gen support FE2 and FE3 ports. The 4th gen supports FE4 ports. The 4th gen / FE4 is much bigger to allow for modern lens which are bigger! So, I guess your housing is 3rd Gen, with an FE2 (earlier) dome. BUT it would support any 2nd or 3rd gen ports.
Graggs 3 Posted December 5, 2013 I was very close to buying this, but found a setup that suited me closer to home (in England). Josha is an excellent communicator and I wish him luck in selling the above housing, I have no doubt it will suit someone very well indeed. Personally, I would go 'the extra mile' and have it serviced. For anyone that doesn't know, a service tech would look at all the seals - the big 'o' ring at the back is the easy one to check, but all the fiddly little seals around the control knobs are just as likely to let you down. Good luck Josha g
