Alison Perkins 29 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) I've recently started working on some cave photography. While this one isn't from inside the cave, I did have to swim through cave to get there. Underwater Pool by Ali Perkins, on Flickr Cave diving can be a serious business, but it is the silly season, so here's a fun one I shot on Christmas Day that I like to call "Arse On Fire". Arse On Fire by Ali Perkins, on Flickr Thanks everyone for sharing so many beautiful images. Happy shooting in 2014! Larry C 24 Posted January 1, 2014 Wow! Great pictures. I'm humbled. My favorites: Two from Cozumel this summer. The Eel just because I like the light and the way the eel undulates. The shot is a little soft around the eye, so not the greatest. The second was a reef scene just because I liked the colors. Last one because it's the first picture that I've ever entered in a contest and won.
MikeVeitch 0 Posted January 1, 2014 My favourite shot was taken yesterday, the 31st! And in the spirit of cheating, its not an underwater photo but rather a shot of the ocean from the air instead. This is in the Misool area of Raja Ampat, near the Pearl Farm and Cave for those of you who have been to the area.
seagrant 4 Posted January 2, 2014 I have a favorite horizontal image and a favorite vertical image This communicative manatee made the cover of the classy Visit Citrus Visitors Guide: http://visitcitrus.com/visitorsguide And my fav horizontal image was this male finding some erogenous ticklish zones on this female manatee: If you would like to know more about when I took these photos, etc. they are part of my new post "Memorable Manatee Moments 2013" http://oceangrantimages.com/memorable-manatee-moments-2013/#more-218 or it is also here on my main site: http://www.oceangrant.com/#!/blog I found it interesting that elbuzo said it was the best March 2013 he has seen for whale conditions, because it was the same with the manatees here. Usually March is very hit or miss, but we must have had very conducive weather patterns to make waters clear and animals abundant at Silver Banks and Crystal River. Best, Carol Grant
petern 5 Posted January 3, 2014 This probably one of my favourite shots from 2013, just something different.
fforbes 7 Posted January 6, 2014 I look forward to this thread every year, and am always humbled by the beautiful photos posted here. I'd like to put up two, one macro, taken in Anilao, PI, the first time I had ever heard of a hairy shrimp, much less had one pointed out to me… and since my new home is now California, a shot from Santa Barbara of two sealions… poor vis and nothing special, I just liked the composition!
Steve Williams 0 Posted January 10, 2014 Once again I marvel at all the talent and passion that the Wetpixel community shares. I was able to get back in the water in 2013 after a year long hiatus and it was magical. My favorite images came from a Wetpixel trip to Isla Mujeres where I got to share the ocean for the first time with both Adam and Eric. This image is special to me in part because of all the help I got from them in making it. Adam's assist on the camera settings and Eric with some help in post. That support plus a little assist from Neptune and it's an image that will always be special to me. The Ocean never ceases to amaze me and this year the big surprise came when I was reviewing the Isla images. I was happy and amazed to see that Yoda put in an appearance to check us out. I hope all of you have a wonderful 2014 with many many special moments. May the force be with you. Cheers! Steve
newmanl 15 Posted January 10, 2014 Hi Steve, Two great images, but the whale shark one is amazing! Nice work. Glad to hear you're back in the water! Lee

maelstrom 0 Posted January 14, 2014 My favorite image of 2013: a Decorated War Bonnet on red soft coral. It was taken at my favorite dive site in the world: Browning Pass, Port Hardy, British Columbia, Canada. Hal
coinee 17 Posted March 15, 2014 Wow, there are some amazing shots in this thread! My shot of 2013 is a turtle on Shaab Maksour, in the south of Egypt. The turtle was eating soft coral, and I found a little sandy pit and just figured I'd lie down in it and see if the turtle wanted to come and say hi - it did! This was shot with a OM-D with the Panasonic 8mm fisheye lens. Distance to subject: <15 cm
