How long do you wait for payment

How long is acceptable to wait for payment from a big underwater dive magazine. I supplied an image that was used almost 6 months ago now and have still not received payment. I have sent numerous emails requesting payment only to be told that my payment is " being processed " and " thank you for your patience "

60-90 days from date of publication is about standard, some will pay faster, others will take longer

Hi Stew I'm sorry but not surprised to hear you are having payment issues. I've had my own problems with a publishing house that I feel showed

a complete lack of respect for contributing photographers. I my case it took 12 months for me to receive payment from Scuba Diving Australasia.

They had initially assured me payment would be prompt. After trying for months to resolve it directly with them I ended up starting a thread about

it and referred them to it. A number of others posted similar issues with the same publisher and I had others contact me directly via email about

their own issues. I have had nothing to do with that publisher since and have warned others to do the same. SDAA is owned by Asian Geographic

Who is the publisher of your image? Stay persistent and don't give up. You'll get your due rewards.

 

Not all publishers are bad and all the others I've dealt with since have been prompt in payment and good communicators eg. Bonnier Corporation.

I wont name them at this stage but if I have not recieved payment within 14 days then I will be naming them. This is the first time that I have ever been let down with payment. I actually received a payment from Diver UK for an image that they used of mine that I had given them permission to use a year or so prior to it being published, so yes there are good ones out there.
