Now installing the firmware is easy as 1.2.3. He still has to iron out some bugs so its really still experimental. suggest use the older 113 version for stable raw video…….. Drew 0 Posted March 18, 2014 Had one corrupt frame on a long 5 min shot, but not other clips. Seems to be random. Give it time for a unified version.
escape 84 Posted April 26, 2014 Had one corrupt frame on a long 5 min shot, but not other clips. Seems to be random. Give it time for a unified version. Hi Drew, What CF card are you using? I tested with DM38 1000x 64G and got lot of frame drop.
escape 84 Posted May 2, 2014 I changed to 1000x cf 128g and shooting 5d3 ml raw at nad lembeh. So far so good, no frame dropping but weird bug on hdmi. Raw's Detail and DR is amazing.
CheungyDiver 53 Posted May 2, 2014 You're the man EunJae!! I use the Lexar card. 64GB. The bus speed from buffer to card limits the write speed and 1000x seems to be the limit for Canon anything camera. Good to know 128GB chip finally could do do what 64GB cards could do. Turn off all non essential functions.....Yeah ML Raw is great on the 5D MIII.... I awaits in awe for your next post of your UW video.... Cheers David
r4e 24 Posted May 2, 2014 EunJae, which 128GB card are you using? Brand? Exact product code? Are you shooting full HD at 30 fps or some other resolution? Thanks.
escape 84 Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) I'm using card from DM storage, Korean company. This is better option for me because of return policy. Price about same as Komputerbay. 1920x1080/24&25p works well. I just shoot 9 min without frame drop but 30p is only about 10sec. I need to invest better card for sure. Drew 0 Posted May 3, 2014 I was using the first version of the ML 1.23 firmware when I had the dropframe using the Sandisk Extreme Pro 256GB. With the latest build, it's very stable for 1080/24p. I can get 30p if I using 2.35 crop on the Lexar 1000x 128GB, but not with the Sandisk 256GB.I will see if the Lexar 256GB 1066x is any better. They've dropped so much in price recently! RWBrooks 26 Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) Using the Lexar 16GB 1066x SD to run the latest build for the 5D3 and recording to a Lexar 128 GB 1066x CF card I was shooting at 29.97 fps for over a minute averaging 87 MB/s with no problems. Intervalometer is also a dream! On testing it today I'm now not having so much success. Not sure what has changed...... Drew 0 Posted May 23, 2014 That's good news Richard. Haven't gone out to buy the Lexar 256GB 1066x yet. But I did experiment with the Sandisk extreme Pro 256GB and it handles 24/25p, just not 29.97fps. using mlv_rec or raw_rec. I suspect it'll be like the Sandisk. As for the mixed results, the card needs to be formatted after a couple of uses. That's the problem with CF cards, it's supposed to be the same across the NAND chips but it's not consistent. Probably QC issues hitting that 88-90MB/s limit.
RWBrooks 26 Posted May 23, 2014 I was trying the mlv as well as the raw but it was taking over a second delay to start recording with the mlv. Not really a plus in my book.
