Cp 29 Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) Is the M14 bulkhead for the vacuum system? Yes. I believe the M16 bulkhead hole is for the HDMi external recorder housing - hopefully for Shogun. Soon may be? Yes, M16 can be used for HDMI [edit: among other things]. I did run the GH4 with the DP4 monitor and it worked well. Shogun isn't even slated to ship until "end of Q3 beginning Q4 2014". So having a housing "soon" doesn't seem too likely Cheers, Cp Edited June 10, 2014 by Cp
SimonSpear 65 Posted June 10, 2014 I saw what I was told to be a working pre-release Shogun this week and the image from the screen was insanely good. Despite its large size in comparison to the GH4 and despite the additional cost of a housing I think it would make an amazing underwater monitor for all kinds of cameras even without its recording abilities.
CheungyDiver 53 Posted June 11, 2014 There is a Broadcast Asia Show next week in Singapore. I shall take a good look at the Atomos Shogun recorder/monitor for myself. This would make a nice combo with the GH4. It would be even better if these two devices could be combined in some ways to make the housing more like a conventional video camera housing IMHO.

Steve Douglas 16 Posted June 16, 2014 Dumb question but what was the blues tune you used in your film?
peterbkk 110 Posted June 18, 2014 Hi All, We showed the prototype NA-GH4 housing at the Cine Gear Expo in Hollywood yesterday. I'll have it at the Scuba Show in Long Beach today for my presentation. If you are in the area and want to check it out, the presentation is at 2pm at the Seaside 5-A room, and I should be around either before or after, showing it to each of the 5 Nauticam dealers at the show. Hope to see you there. Chris Any thoughts on a ship date for the NA-GH4? I now have the camera and am keen to get it underwater. Not sure if I should purchase the modified NA-GH3 or wait a bit longer for the NA-GH4. Will the NA-GH4 be much different from a modified NA-GH3? Regards Peter
Davide DB 412 Posted July 2, 2014 The issue of autofocus with the 4:3 cameras is that is is slow and sloppy however considering that the 7-14 has a minimum aperture of f/4 and the camera a 2x crop factor you can focus the camera on land at 3 feet, lock focus, jump in the water and you should have all in focus from 1.5 feet to infinity. If instead you are shooting something closer or you zoom you have a problem and you need the camera to focus this is where manual focus is useful as autofocus as mentioned before is .....not that good I do not agree here, With my beloved old GH2 autofocus is fast as hell with 7-14mm. I tested hundred of times in really challenging conditions. IGH3 autofocus si still better than GH2. On video you have to set spot focus, not multi point. Regards Peter We're working on a press release now, so sooner rather than later, but I don't have a firm date just yet.. As you can see from some of the leaked pics, the main differences are built in handles (like as in the NA-EM1), the new port lock style, and the vacuum electronics standard. Look for the press release to hit next week... (there's a US holiday tomorrow, so no sense releasing when a big portion of our audience will be eating hot dogs and drinking cold beer... kc_moses 142 Posted July 10, 2014 Hi Chris, I changed my plan since I sold my LX-7, I don't have any camera for U/W now so no point going to Cayman although I'm highly interested at the Hollis Explorer. I'm waiting for the announcement of the Panasonic LX-8. If LX-8 has 5-axis stabilization with 1" sensor with 4K video, then Lx-8 would be my choice, otherwise GH4 it is. I will be going to West Palm this December to shop for apartment so plan to relocate to your neck of the wood next Summer, so you probably would see me around! escape 84 Posted July 10, 2014 Just got my Nauticam GH4 housing. Ergonomic is much better than what I was using (GH3 + upgrade kit). Now it's more like their DSLR housing which easily access all necessary button/wheel when holding the handle. One small complaint is the front wheel (rear wheel is ok). It's not smooth (because wheel is small?) as other housing which I've used (7D, 70D, 5D3) but it's no biggie since I can use rear wheel as a aperture control.

Though, we will have lots of demo gear down there, including GH4. Just saying' Let me know when you move down here, we can go for a bridge dive.
