Sony a7 series with 28mm and clip-on fisheye

Recommended Posts

My hunch is that there are not many UW users of the Sony a7x systems so far. Isn't that right?

Everybody are waiting for the right lenses...

I think its hard to answer your questions b/c the lens combo is not yet available. Also is there a dome port for the a7 series housing?

most images I've seen from a7 cameras underwater are using nikonos wide angle lens or the 28-70mm in a nauticam port.

I believe the 28mm+Fish Eye adapter will give 16mm FE fov. Again, a proper dome will need to be available.

Sony 10-18mm covers the full-frame sensor from 12-17mm. Has anyone try this lens on an A7 underwater yet?

For wide angle, you might want to try the Nikonos 15mm f2.8. It's an old lens, high quality, designed for UW application, manual only but it is very very compact compare to the size of the dome that will be required with the new Sony lenses.

IMO with a 15mm lens the autofocus is not necessssary.

Like many still waiting for lenses but the new 90mm Macro and new 16-35mm are nice additions. With the 15mm Nikonos you have a pretty complete line. Yes still waiting for that perfect Fisheye.

A couple taken with the a7 and Nikonos. Main issue for me was getting the focus right, and the f.stop and...

NWDiver, the focus peaking function wasn't helping to get pictures right with the Nikonos 15mm?

It helps, but nothing is foolproof. You just have to take your time, set the shot more. For instance, you have to take your eye out of the viewfinder and look at the lens itself to check the f.stop. No more lifting the camera and firing away.

excuse my ignorance here but as a short cut couldn't you set to minimum focus (1.5m i think) and set f stop to 8 or higher and get sufficient dof?

Without a doubt, it is a lens that is famous for having an excellent dof. I like to play with different settings for different effects, am forgetful and takes a pic or two to remember to change the f.stop or distance.

Like here was trying to play with softening the background. Then start swimming, forget the old settings. Just have to flip camera over to check. Seeing all info in the viewfinder spoils you.

The official sony Photos of the 28mm and fe adapter combo are released. I have no. experience of full format fish eye lenses, but to me this seems quite tall. That would probably make the fully housed combo with dome quite bulky, wouldn't it?
