jamsys 0 Posted June 8, 2004 Ok, Made the decision to get the Fuju S2.. Now is there any good reason to buy the US Model over the Import? Other than the warranty and the few items that come with it (I can order them seperatly) What is the Software that comes with the S2??? I cant get specifics on Fuji's website. Thx Scott
pmooney 6 Posted June 8, 2004 Scott, The few dollars you might save by sourcing a camera from an oversea's or grey chanel can be well consumed very quickly the first time you try to get some help or worse still you need to get a buggy camera fixed. ( 1-800 help ) Support your local dealer so he can afford to support you. Peter
jamsys 0 Posted June 8, 2004 I wish it was just a 'few dollars', but the S2 from a American Camera store is $1089.00 vs $1800-2000 from my local shop... Thats alot of money... It would be the same as if I bought a US model from Ebay, Fuji would give after warranty support I would assume... If the US Model came with a 5yr warranty I would be all over it, but 1yr doent seem like much, esp when the camera dealer offers a 5 year for $299.00.... I wish the choise was easy, this is the hard part Scott Scott, The few dollars you might save by sourcing a camera from an oversea's or grey chanel can be well consumed very quickly the first time you try to get some help or worse still you need to get a buggy camera fixed. james 0 Posted June 8, 2004 The USA model of the S2pro comes with the EX version of the RAW converter - this is the full-featured version. Overseas versions of the camera kit do NOT come with this software, and you are required to purchase it for an additional (and very high) cost. Also, I don't like your cost numbers - if you were quoted $1,089 for a US version, that is probably a scam. The camera is still over $1700 US. Cheers James PS: Hi Peter! Hope all is well down there. pmooney 6 Posted June 8, 2004 Hey James Nice Shirt. Paul finally arrived back in one piece jabbering about bull sharks so fat you could put you arms around them - sounds like cava to me. See you soon ( wer'e doing a low key creature trip to PNG with a proven local spotter - ex cairns plenty of space if you keen for some warm muddy water. )
jamsys 0 Posted June 9, 2004 James, I may have transposed numbers... the price is $1089.00 for a Import version, and they say it comes with software. Can you explain the possible differences in the software? I see the CD on Fuji's site for $179.00 Thx Scott The USA model of the S2pro comes with the EX version of the RAW converter - this is the full-featured version. messar 0 Posted June 9, 2004 I'd check http://www.resellerratings.com/ for store that has the camera for 1089$. I saw this price to, and decided that it was probably too good to be true. Matt
james 0 Posted June 16, 2004 How did this one work out? Cheers James
PSteggle 0 Posted June 19, 2004 Hi Scott, The prices seem very keen. I think it comes down to wether thay can actually deliver or not. Try 17photo.com. The service has always been good. Which housing are you getting/got? I tried an Aquatica but nothing seemed to line up. I was told it was because of manufacturing tolerances with the camera. I've ended up with a SeaCam. Strange that everything lines up now........ As for software, all we get over here is the basic stuff, with the RAW converter as an extra. But if you have photoshop CS you can download a plug-in for free. Ok, Made the decision to get the Fuju S2.. Now is there any good reason to buy the US Model over the Import?
