balagan 2 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Someone I know has just posted a link on FB for a print shop that I think is based in the UK. It appears they are selling prints and have a search engine on the site to look for suitable pictures. A sample search of "Nudibranch" brings up quite a few known photos including a few by David Doubilet as well as others. They seem to think that they have somehow devolved themselves from any copyright breaches due to some half arsed statement on their site. I've attached a screenshot of this statement. So as the law stands are they taking the piss or have they found some loophole around current UK copyright law enabling them to make money from others work? BTW the site is called wallpart.com Edited July 26, 2015 by balagan
decosnapper 37 Posted July 27, 2015 Why do you think the shop is UK-based?
JimSwims 31 Posted July 27, 2015 A quick look showed the site was Russian hosted. Both the contact address and telephone contact are bogus. Bit more googling- http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2015/07/08/creepy-website-is-stealing-images-selling-them-as-posters http://www.thephotoforum.com/threads/website-stealing-and-selling-images.386416/ Seems the whole site may just be a big fake- http://hxppy-bxddy.tumblr.com/post/124871558118/attention-the-whole-wallpart-thing-seems-to-be Cheers, Jim. JimSwims 31 Posted July 28, 2015 Seems the site has an altogether more sinister purpose! http://wetpixel.com/articles/this-website-is-phishing-for-photographers Cheers, Jim.
