Sony RX100 IV 4K underwater video Taiwan

Recommended Posts

it shot by sony rx100 IV, 4K resolution, with marco diaptor Subsee+10,and SEA&SEA rx100 M3 housing

this video only contain northern east coast of Taiwan

coz, the new mark iv housing is not avaliable yet, so i just put the camera in the M3 housing, i tested 2 housing, Acquapazza and sea$sea,

sea&sea is better controll with manual focus, the front ring,

besides, the water is not crystal in northern east coast of taiwan, it required lots of post production for the video, anyway, enjoy it

i don't use particular profile to shot, mostly P mode, or A mode, white balance is set to auto, i prefer to correct it in post production, mostly set to auto,

but focus , some macro shot, use manual focus, otherwise, it will be jumping back and forth

Very good leo999. Congratulations for the getting the RX100 IV underwater so quickly. It does a good job indeed. I really like that nudibranch at 2:52.

thanks , Nick hope, at 2.52, that nudibranch is really big, about half palm size(i use hand to compare the size), really rare to see that size, that's why i can shot some big close-up,

actually, the lenses of mark 4, is so hard to shot macro image, i use Subsee+10 ,but i don't think it's enough for shooting close-up, i may consider to get another more stronger macro lense for fitting this camera, maybe SAGA +25, or some other choices..

I had a experience with only RX100 mark 1 but maybe you could try nautcam cmc which is specially designed for compact camera lens?

Because I was having more difficult with very short working distance not because of power of diopter.

Really great shots. I got the RX100 M4 now as well in a Nauticam housing. Really looking for some simple tripod solution to get the nudibranches more stable ;-)

Any recommendation for a compact camera system? The DSLR tripods are way too heavy and expensive....

Thanks Interceptor, I've got the Nauticam Flexitray system (yes, a bit heavy but also very rigid) and quite like that. It also provides the brackets needed for fixing my FixNeo light remote.

I was also thinking about using arm segments as feet. Just need to find a way to fit three ball mounts to the bottom of the tray....

I have the flexitray with me right now. I don't see a way to screw ball mounts from ulcs on the bottom

no, not out of the box. I made some drawings here for some custom mods to the tray that would allow this. I'll get them out to a machine tooler when I am back from my trip to Egypt in mid October. If this is going anywhere, I'll post some pics :-)

i share you my tripod, it's not delicate, but useful, cheap, easy to set up underwater, and, it can be lower down to ground for shooting something on the ground, the shooting angle won't be too high

Many thanks Leo for sharing your tripod. I now actually decided to get the one from Easydive. I only slightly modified it as the ball adapter to screw into the tray which came with it looked a bit flimsy (bottom picture, left item). I replaced that by the ULCS adapter which has an o-ring around the screw and can be tightened really firmly to the tray (bottom picture, right item).

This tripod allows you to go pretty low (3-4cm to table top) for macro objects. Haven't played with it in the water yet, though.

The easy dive legs look to short and too close. For a single leg like that you would need something longer. Or if you want to use 5" segments they need to be more spaces apart like the Leo one

The legs are actually 7" - but if that proves to be too wobbly I can easily replace them by using 10".

I like more when the centre of gravity is lower. The issue with single point tripods is that you need to have fairly long segments which in turns can be tricky on uneven bottoms. I like my mechatron tripod that is not actually a tripod. The best thing is that you can fold the legs up and is not much more bulky then a tray. I also think monopods can be very useful
