TimG 62 Posted October 7, 2015 Yep, I agree. I recently upgraded to the V4 of Sentinel and there are some very good refinements. I still got two false positives on a couple of dives - heart-stopping moments - but I think probably my fault for not putting in those extra couple of pumps once the green lights. A nice feature of v4 is the ability to turn the Sentinel off once the system is prepared if you're not diving for a few hours, e.g. overnight. And the low battery indicator. The on / off feature is the best addition and yes you need a few strokes more as the sensor is outside the housing so temperature compensation is not perfect Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

"Its dimensions are 70X50X35mm , it uses standard 9V battery, evacuates one liter container to the set point for constant green LED blinking in approximately 20 seconds, and runs on single battery continuously for more than 3,5 hours, so it’s quite compact and efficient." okuma 64 Posted January 2, 2017 I looked at a hand held, rechargable "food saver vacuum pump " at Wallmart several days ago in CA. It was about 4"x6" 1" and somewhat heavy. Passed on it. This one looks smaller. Would probably still take a hand pump for back up. Best option would be a dive buddy who could evacuate it orally! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Eyematey 5 Posted January 25, 2017 I received a Leak Sentinel pump from Miso and it is small and efficient. My only thoughts on it are that if you didn't remove 9V battery (4 case screws) while traveling the button could be easily depressed and pump energized. My solution was to tap (16mmX1) a nylon spacer and then superglue to pump. Allows for a spare cap and protection against unwanted button press. The pump works great and much smaller than manual pump. onokai 20 Posted March 23, 2017 I bought the 5 from Milo in January asa well as the electric pump-I to modified it with a ring around the push button so it cannot turn on in my luggage. I used mine in Wakatobi for 14 days and 39 dives. I an very pleased with this product .I have learned to use it and it works great and is fast to pump out and make a dive. Nothing like the green flashing light to make you feel safe. Mine is in a Subal ND30 housing. It is smaller than the backscatter one and theirs has no lights to keep you informed on the vacuum holding like the sentinel 5. I recommend this product. I have been using the leak sentinals for a few years now on a Nauticam RX100II housing. Mine is the v4 and it does exactly what its says it should do!! The V5 is not on the webpage last time I looked but Miso from Vivid housings has sent me the details. The v5 is much more compact and the battery change looks easier - it is quite different to the v4 - I have PDF file with pics if you would like me to email it? I I recently upgraded to Nauticam with D500 and it came with the Nauticam leak detector. To be honest I prefer the leak sentinal - primarily because it can be set well before the dive and put into standby and turned back off without opening the housing. With the nauticam you must open the housing to turn off the switch which can mean the unit stays on longer than you want. You can always contact Miso direct at info@vividhousings.com. The Leak Sentinel electric pump has been updated by Miso with a membrane on/off switch to prevent its being turned on accidentally. I have used the manual syringe type pump, the pistol grip pump and now this electric pump, and the electric is my favorite. It is a nice time saver when I am preparing my housing for a dive, in 20-30 seconds the vacuum light on my V5 Leak Detector turns green. mcliffy2 10 Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Just a +1 for the Leak Sentinel. I have found their customer service to be amazing and responsive. I had an issue with mine due to user error (not properly cleaning after a dive trip), which I discovered just before my next trip, and Milo got me replacement parts out to me the next day at a huge discount (despite the problem being my fault) so I got them before leaving on my trip. It only takes a dozen or so pumps with the hand pump, it's not hard - and why add electric pumps and a battery? Just more potential things to go wrong. TomekP 5 Posted September 10, 2018 I have few questions. Is it normal that with hand pump I need maybe 5-6 times to pump the housing? I read in manual that it should be something like 20 times. What will happen when the protective cap will got leak or I just forgot to install it ??? Is the red valve/membrane will keep vacuum/water sealing when it will got water pressure from outside?? pbalves 55 Posted September 10, 2018 Hi Tomek Depending if the housing is empty or has the camera inside and also if it has the macro port or the big wideangle dome port attached, it will need different number of pumping to get the green light. It is physics. After getting the green light steady, pump once more (when the internal pressure is too close to the limit to turn orange, it might give you false alarms, as was said before on this or similar topic) Never go diving without the protective cap. When ever you take out the pump, always put the protective cap before doing anything else to avoid to forget to put it. Regarding the battery life, if you have one new battery, it should be enough for the full week of diving. But always have with you spare batteries (1 or 2). Sometimes the newbattery is not really new or fully charged or is faulty. And in that case you can save the rest of the dives.
