ReyeR 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Ok, got my hands on a PT-023 for the C8080 today. The housing is huge, mainly because of the port and a very ungainly flash diffuser. The finish quality is as usual, very good. Installing the camera was a breeze with the internal tray/bracket. The most humorous parts of the housing were the gigantic weight (for neutral buoyancy) and the skinny lanyard for hanging the massive housing off your wrist. james 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Wow! Thanks for posting the photos. I know many here are interested in this housing for the 8080. A few questions if you don't mind. Is that the Olympus wide angle port installed? If so, is the front flat, or curved? It looks flat in the photo, but I just want to check. Also, we'd love to hear more of your impressions about the housing when you have time. Cheers James

That's just the normal flat port (unless the vendor made a mistake and sent the wide)!!
james 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Interesting. So does the flat port come off? It looks like it has latches on it. If so, can you use the Olympus wide angle lens behind that port? Cheers James
ReyeR 0 Posted June 23, 2004 Yes the standard port (PPO-04) comes off. Not sure about using the WA WCON-08D behind this port as I don't have one to test with. My guess is that you can't because with the wide port (PPO-05) the lens window comes off and you mount the CLA-8 adaptor and WCON-08D through this window. The PPO-05 won't be much bigger in diameter (156mm) compared to the PPO-04 (148mm). It's longer, 90mm compared to the 77mm. It looks like the wide port (PPO-05) is a flat port. Sadly, Olympus has chosen not to learn from their faux pas with the 5060 wide port.
