old russian lens with radial blur

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am messing around with an old russian lens. Not easy to use since I have to pre-set focus and aperture before putting the camera in the housing, only the center part of the image is reasonably sharp but it gives some interesting radial blur effect.

No postprocessing of the image, just some contrast correction.

Please critique.

thanks, Flavio

That's an interesting effect with the clear water background and isolated subject in the middle. It works well in this instance. I'd like to see an example of a more complex scene with things happening at the edges, maybe against a reef

Thanks for your feedback.

Here's another example, I like the 'explosion' effect of the spikes of the sea urchins, to get this kind of blur I use the lens full open, so the depth of field is short, perhaps it is too much since the urchins are not sharp enough.
