New INON strobe coming?

Has anyone heard of a new INON strobe coming sometime soon?

The pricing for a new Z-240 has gone down to $539

I had the same thought when I saw the price drop. I asked Reef Photo if this was a closeout in anticipation of a new model and was told the price drop is simply an attempt to compete, price-wise, with Sea and Sea strobes. My suspicion is that it has something to do with U.S. dealers losing a lot of sales to Asian dealers when they were selling these for $500-$600 and the U.S. price was $800.

 

In any event, according to Reef, no new model is in the works as far as they know. I assume they would know.

It was reported here on wetpixel a month or so ago that Inon is discontinuing the 240 and coming out with a replacement. However, no searching I have done reveals any details about either the time frame or specs of whatever new strobe is in the works.

I hate to say it, but IMHO, Inon is certainly helping to drive Retra orders right now.... With only a day, or so, left to preorder, I'm seriously considering the Retras, as I'm looking to upgrade my strobes from S&S YS-01s....

I ordered the Retra's a couple months ago--complete system (strobes, battery compartments, shark diffusers, LSD, light narrowing rings) and so far they look like a superb product and a substantial upgrade over either the 240 or ys-D1/2 from the beam shots they posted. I am sure Inon will come up with a great product, but I am not going to look back, so long as the Retras prove to be reliable (little early adopter nervousness on that, but one of my ys-d1s died so instead of replacing just got the new system).

Yes, there is a new Inon strobe coming, a 300 something or other. Not available in Australia yet, I was asking as one of my Sea and Seas is playing up...

I chose Retra instead of the Z330 - but have yet to 'get in the water' with them...

Or is this another Inon model?

I don't think anyone has posted anything about water leaks on WP in relation to the Z330. The Z240 was very reliable for not leaking and, I believe, its the same system.

I sold my Oly EM5 gear including the Z240 strobes when I upgraded to a EM1mk2, little did I realise there was a hold up in production/availability of the Z330s Im now considering buying a new set of Z240s
