ianmarsh 37 Posted October 25, 2017 (edited) Not a Wetpixel issue, but... Watch out for a listing on Craigslist Newcastle UK for a Nikonos RS kit including 13mm fisheye. He claims his name is Alexander Weiss. He did send additional requested pictures, so probably actually has the gear. I foolishly sent a bank draft for $2200 Cdn and received nothing for my troubles. That was 8 months ago. I see the listing is up again. The listing moves around Britain. It was in Glasgow when I first found it. I started a police investigation through the RCMP and Greenock police, but nothing has come up. He/she has now been deleted. If you had any dealings with him/her I would strongly recommend avoiding passing any money over in any form. Thank you to those who spotted this and let us know... Hulkster 3 Posted November 9, 2017 Adam, Thank you as I was just dealing with "Mrhenson" for a Nauticam CMC-2 wet lens. Had photos and price was fair. I said that PayPal was my preferred payment method, but he would not use saying he had problems with PayPal. He suggested a Walmart to Walmart payment plan. As above, Caveat Emptor. papamac58 7 Posted November 9, 2017 I also had a deal going with mrhenson. He sent me screen shots of his ebay feedback. I could tell it was totally fame as everything was well over $3000 that he supposedly sold. When I searched ebay for his user name it came up blank so I called ebay and informed them. I then asked him to list it on ebay snd I would give him $50 more and he gave me the cant use paypal right now speech. The email address given one his registration was mattdck09@gmail.com I have also contacted everyone in his DM list. Thanks for the reports of suspicions from the eagle-eyed members! dawallace99 3 Posted May 3, 2018 (edited) Although it wasn't on this website and I have no way of knowing if she is on this website, but there is a lady on Facebook named "Jo Smith" who "studied at the University of Plymouth and is from Los Angeles" who took one of my shark images and posted it on her timeline with a link to a SCAM website called "Gear Bubble" without my permission. She has apparently done that numerous times with other images from other photogs, some with watermarks and some without.... BEWARE of doing business with her!! adamhanlon 0 Posted August 28, 2018 A Wetpixel member has been approached by an individual using the email address chopperwip@gmail.com. There are no Wetpixel members registered at this email address. The member had posted their email address on a wanted to buy ad and this individual approached them offering the item that they wanted via email. Fortunately, the member realized that chopperwip@gmail.com was a scammer. If you are approached by anyone using this address, please do not attempt to complete a transaction with him/her. As a general rule, I would avoid completing transactions with individuals that approach you blind via email. In order to access the Wetpixel PM system, individuals have to register, validate their email address and we can track IP addresses etc. This provides an element of basic security. Their MO is to respond to WTB ads via messenger, suggesting that they have a friend that has the item/s that are being sought, and suggesting that you email this third party for details. As always, if you are offered items, please check who is offering them. Look for activity here on Wetpixel and Google any email contacts etc. If they have not posted on Wetpixel, I would avoid doing a deal... Specifically, we have: somjohn323 (somjohn323@gmail.com). Buyers/sellers are members of the community with at least a few posts on the forum. 2. Be very wary if they want to transact via email, rather than via the Wetpixel Personal Messenger. 3.
