ScubaTroy 0 Posted November 28, 2017 I am planning a trip to PNG in November 2018. I am trying to decide between Tawali or Walindi or the Febrina out of Walindi. I am wondering if anyone has recently traveled to these locations or been on the Febrina? If so, I am very interested in hearing your thoughts/recommendations about the resorts, quality of the dive operations, etc. Thank you. Troy
bvanant 189 Posted December 1, 2017 We just got back from a month in Milne Bay. Great fun (we have been several times). We were on Rob Van Der Loos's boat the Chertan (he built Tawali but no longer owns it). Great place for little things (nudis, shrimps, crabs etc.) with some additional Wobbegong and Mantas for the big side. We have also dived with Alan on the Febrina, a great boat depending on where you want to go in PNG. We have not been to Walindi but hear good things about it. AllisonFinch 7 Posted December 3, 2017 While I love Walindi, and can HIGHLY recommend it if you prefer shore living, I have spent a LOT of time on the FeBrina and think it is the best option. The guides on this boat are second to none and the diving is incredible. Whether diving Kimbe, the Fathers reefs, Rabaul or the south shore (depends on time of year) you will find wonderful diving. Kimbe and Fathers has great reefs with both big animal action and macro. The Witu Islands have really good muck sites and a volcanic crater diving, the south shore has great muck, as well as reefs. Whichever you choose, you will see some of the most pristine reefs found anywhere.

Luko 24 Posted December 5, 2017 I only know Tawali so far (last trip in March) and would go back anytime. Lawadi is fantastic or macro, I have never seen such a beautifully lit divesite such as Deacon's reef and the reefs around are simply splendid with a cornucopia of pristine hard corals. I'd probably book a short liveaboard on the Spirit of NewGuinea, ( Tawali's own liveaboard) in order to explore the outer reefs and Samarai area, additionally to dving the local reefs from Tawali resort. Here are some UW photos I posted on this board (and more in my Flickr account, -click below- ) : http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60247&hl=tawali
ZabCle 0 Posted January 15, 2018 These are great places to enjoy life and love. Tawali Dive Resort is the best for me. I think you can enjoy the best of PNG while staying at Tawali. I have read on other forums that they also prefer Tawali over the others. You might want to read their opinions too!
