Mickdiver 0 Posted November 27, 2018 Hi, I'm inheriting an a6000 + 5 lens. Its never been wet so looking to upgrade my underwater setup from rx100 in nauticam to a6000 in nauticam. I primarily shoot in caves, with some wide angle stuff on wrecks. Never been interested in macro really. I've shot with the rx100 with an inon wide angle wet lens for 5 years. I know nothing about lens, or how to configure a setup properly. I'd love some input and help if anyone has time. Lens i'm getting with the a6000 body: - rokinon 12mm f 2.0 ncs cs - sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 - sony sel35f 18 35mm f/1.8 - sony sel1670z vario tessar - song 55-200 zoom So far I think i'd best be shooting with the rok and/or the sony 16-50mm, in a nauticam housing, with the following added : Nauticam N85 to N120 60mm Port Adaptor Nauticam 6” Acrylic wide-angle dome port Does this sound about right... or am I completely lost (as I feel). Barmaglot 250 Posted November 27, 2018 The Rokinon lens is manual-only, and I don't believe that even Nauticam has a dual-gear setup that will allow you to control its focus and aperture. You have a 16-70Z lens, which is a step above 16-50mm in image quality, and Nauticam recommends the 2070 7" N85 acrylic dome to use with it. If you want to go wider and closer, you'll need to purchase either the 10-18mm f/4 rectilinear UWA zoom, or the 16mm f/2.8 prime with VCL-ECU (rectilinear) or VCL-ECF (fisheye) converters, plus the appropriate ports. Note that 16mm on A6000 in a dome will be wider than your RX100 without a wet lens, but not nearly as wide as RX100 with most wet wide lenses.
hyp 111 Posted November 27, 2018 I think you might just wanna stick with your RX100 unless you are keen on buying an additional wide angle lens. Unless of your you are dying for some more dynamic range and low light performance, which are the main things you will probably gain over the RX100.
Mickdiver 0 Posted November 28, 2018 Thanks for your inputs. Upgrade to the a6000 is for top side zoom as well, since rx100 is limited there. Yes im thinking ill get a 1018 lens and 7inch dome port. Being mostly cave shooting, low light performance is important. Also getting 2 z330s and 4 15000 big blues hopefully...
