Peter Schulz 1 Posted September 10, 2004 I have just started using my D70 rig. In the process I learned some things about settings that work for me. http://www.splashdowndivers.com/photo_gall...ettings_d70.htm Please feel free to disagree if you think there are better choices. Peter Schulz 1 Posted September 20, 2004 FYI, I added a new page of notes that explain some of my reasons for using the settings I am. And as always, comments are welcomed. http://www.splashdowndivers.com/photo_gall...s_d70_notes.htm
Starbuck 0 Posted September 20, 2004 Peter - You may have included this somewhere already.. In Ikelite housings one of the left lever arms can actually activate the pop up flash on the d70.. when that happens shutter speed can not be set faster than 1/500th. If you shoot a lot of silohuettes (sp?) this can pose a problem.. Great summary of all the d70 features! People moving up to this dslr will find your information greatly appreciated! M. Peter Schulz 1 Posted September 20, 2004 Michael, I already have the popup flash taped down. I'll add to list. But still I can't get faster than 1/500 with my settings. I think it's because I connect my sync cord directly to the strobes and the D70 can see the strobes. My guess is that if I connected to manual controllers the camera would not see strobes and would permit higher shutter speeds. Others are also looking at insulating one of the hot shoe pins to get the same effect ... something I don't want to be the first to do. Do you use manual controllers? SharkyUAE 0 Posted September 20, 2004 Peter, Very informative, nice to have some short concise user references on equipment rather than try to understand what manufacturer has written in a book.
Starbuck 0 Posted September 20, 2004 I have the dual synch cord with 1 manual controller only to the left strobe.. M.
