hi has anyone got or used the inon d200 strobe yet any thoughts.

The Inon D200 is an excellent flash. Its Guide No is 20 vs 24 for the Z240, and it only has the optical trigger vs the Z240 which also has sync cord connection. To suppress the pre-flash, the D200 has a removable magnet, the D240's is built in. Otherwise they look, feel and work the same, same controls. As both strobes are no longer made, there are no repairs, spare parts are hard to come by. Versions 2, 3 and 4 are a good deal.

Things to look for before buying: general condition, are the battery terminals shiny as corroded = flooded, and are the flash tubes shiny and clear, brown or dark indicates early burn out. Turn it on, press the spot light button, it should shine evenly, no blinking, turns off automatically in about 30 seconds. If the pre-flash magnet is lost, it is easy to improvise a new one.

If you find one of the older models D2000 or Z240 in good condition for sale at a reasonable price, buy it or please let me know.

I think you are confusing the D200 with the D2000. The D200 is actually the successor to the D2000, being slotted in between the new Z330 and the S2000 (which has not received an update, yet???). Personally, I see very little point in the mid-range strobes, as they are only marginally cheaper than the top end ones, but only marginally better than the low end ones. Either you are on a strict budget, in which case the YS01 or S2000 will be the only option (or buying a single high end strobe), or you can afford a better option, in which case you might as well splurge for a Retra, Z330 or YSD2.
