Scubalamp PV102 and airtravel

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a second hand PV102 10000 lumen video light by scubalamp. It has a contained 7X18650 battery pack. I am trying to find if this is allowed on airline travel. I know lithium packs need to be carried in carryon luggage, but I am having a hard time finding if this battery pack meets all the TSA regulations. Does anyone have this or large sized batteries like this who can point me the right way?

Find the mah and multiply by the voltage to find the Wh then check if is below 100 or not

At first sight 7x 18650 at 2500 mah is 64.75 Wh so you are fine

yes I calc 77WH 3000mA=3A so 7*3A*3.7v gives me 77. so technically I am below TSA threshold. However the WH is not stated in the literature or canister and has to be calculated. I don't have hopes that TSA can or will do math to calculate it. without a clear stamp or specs sheet showing WH has anyone experienced issues with TSA?

I had my hand luggage inspected in Fort Lauderdale while carrying 4 clearly labelled 99 wh batteries however the tsa staff was more concerned on what it was than looking at this level of detail

To be honest I think as long as you dont have 10 battery packs you will be fine with one set in the equipment or with the equipment and one spare
