Inon S2000 with Sony RX 100 mk 3

I have a simple question Sttl with Inon S 2000 with Sony RX 100 mk 3 magnet in or out? And totally manual magnet in or out?

Hi I’m using rx100 2. Inon z240 strobes TTL magnet out as the rx100 uses a pre flash camera setting flash on fill setting it is working ok on my setup with fibre optic cables Hope this helps you will still have manual control also.

Thanks DRP. Internet is nice way to find information but it also confuses us. Many opinions about magnets in or out with Inon flashes. So please more input because

I know some say keep the magnet in. I have bad results with magnet in. I am an amateur so very limited in knowledge I confess. So I would benefit of owner

of the same camera and flash share their experiences with me.

 

Or are Sea & Sea flashes easier to use???

Inon strobes are very good and it's worth persevering. They aren't hard to use but as the manuals aren't great, initial setup can be a bit of a challenge. But once you have them set, they're great.

Hi I am also a newcomer to underwater photography and have built my rig on good advice from experienced users going for the rx100mk2 gives better use of the camera with a variety of aftermarket wide and macro wet lenses inon or nauticam on the mk3 results may not be as good as the camera lens is different on the rx100 and mk2 version 28/100. On mk3 to 5 they have a 24/70 so aftermarket lenses do not work quite as well in video modes they are ok because it works in crop mode

A word of caution check all lenses as they may vignette choose only lenses to suit which will work for you and your rig especially for wide angle lense

I’m confused on this topic as well. I bought a Panasonic LX10 and Nauticam housing with two Inon s2000 strobes. Looking at the reef photo article I should be checking if my lx-10 has a preflash? Then determining the magnet?

in general just about every camera will have a pre flash when running TTL flash on camera and no pre flash in manual flash on camera. The LX10 doesn't offer manual flash control so it'll pre flash every time and magnet is out.

 

You can still use manual flash on your external strobe , but in this case the camera is in auto flash and the S2000 is in manual flash. you can turn flash compensation right down when in manual on the S2000 to save battery and recycle time. So the camera will pre flash, the S2000 will ignore it and then flash at the manual setting on the main flash from the camera.

I just borrowed 1 then 2 S-2000's for use with an LX-10 for a trip. I was impressed with the system compared to my YS-90's and HW adapter (no great surprise). I shot entirely in TTL mode on the strobes, and cut the camera flash the max (-3?), as learning the new camera was enough of a challenge and I was happy with the results in general. The magnets were in, but based on the REEF write up (thanks for that link!) it doesn't effect TTL mode. Looking forward to trying some of the manual operation, but the TTL operation was pretty cool.

Those are some beautiful shots! Absolutely love nudies. I've only recently gotten into photography (underwater and otherwise) and slowly building up my gear and knowledge base. Currently have a a TG5 in the Olympus housing and a BigBlue AL2600XWP video light, but I've been really wanting a strobe (or two haha) and the S-2000 is in my top two.
