Anyone running a YS-01 and YS-03?

Looking to replace my INON D-2000 and Sea & Sea Ys-25 combo I've been running for something with dual TTL strobes and a slightly smaller package. 

Camera is a Canon S95, Fix/Fisheye housing, Fix 165 degree wet lens.

Will be listing the strobes and some other lighting gear here soon, but wanted to see if anyone is running the YS-03?

Debating between dual YS-03's or with a single YS-01 to preserve manual capability.

I've been using a YS-03 for several years now, maybe 50 dives, with a Sony RX100iv in a Fantasea case and an a6500 in a SeaFrogs  Salted Line case.  Works great for macro, no complaints.  If I had it to do over, I'd pay the extra $100/ea to get the YS-01 with manual and target light options.  But if you add another $200/ea you could get the Z330.  I think they call this mission creep.

Attached are shots from a trip to Loreto, Mexico last month - 80 ft, dark, murky, and cold.  a 6500 with 90 mm macro lens and YS-03.

If it was me I would get another D-2000 or the newD-200 or a pair of S-2000 which are very compact.  If you are staying with compacts they are plenty powerful enough because the shooting aperture or f-stop is low so you don't need as much light.  If you wanted to go to a lerger sensor there would be an argument for getting bigger more powerful strobes.

There is a lot to be said for having two identical strobes - you put them both on the same setting in most circumstances and if the positioning is symmetrical or at least similar distance the outputs match - a lot less to think about and less trial and error UW to get your lighting right.  Particularly with wide angle having the ability to set manual strobe output is important.  My Z-204's have been relaible and work very well for me.

What about adding a single S-2000 to pair with my existing D-2000?

 

Do they pair well or will I be unhappy with the mismatch?

Divervision has the YS-01 for less than the S-2000.

it's always better to have identical strobes so you are not trying to get both sides to match.  If they are the same strobe, set them on the same setting and move them up and down identically as you change power.    I'm sure you would get them to match at the cost of some fiddling.  If you are set on using TTL - matching needs to be via exposure compensation on one of the strobes as they will both fire for the same duration and if one has too much power it might fall outside the range of the available compensation.
