Hi all I have just bought an LSD and after attaching it to my z240 I put on the aiming light, only to find that when i get the square shape edges sharp the square is surrounded by a dull halo of light . The halo is round in shape and bigger than the projected square shape provided by the square mask. This halo shows up in the picture as well . Any ideas am I working it right? All this is in air! the light beam focuses sharp at about 13 cm distance.

Cheers  Steve  PS I followed retras aiming giude to the letter!

Are you using the one that was in the classifieds? Link: https://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?/topic/65052-retra-lsd-snoot/

It seems that the snoot in the classifieds has a black tube attached to a silver mounting piece. Retra actually make a silver tube with a narrower part in the middle and a silver mounting piece. Link: https://www.retra-uwt.com/pages/light-shaping-device

I've seen somewhere that those black tubes were made by Retra in 2013.

Hey Steve

Curious. As Jerry says, the more recent LSDs have a silver tube.

I'd suggest dropping Oskar an email at Retra and getting his advice. He's very helpful and responds quickly.

Hi all thanks for the replies. I spoke with retra and the response was both the black and silver tubes work with the new mount! The only difference is the black version is heavier.                           This would not cause my issue. It  was intimated that I was using it at the wrong distance and the halo was due to  not closing down the aperture enough. I will try the suggestions in water and see how I get on.  Thanks Steve
