jchance 2 Posted January 28, 2020 There are several of us making a first time trip on the Manthiri in the Maldives at the end of March. We are trying to decide exactly what the options are and lighten the baggage. We all know of the large “critters” there and the need for medium to wide angle lenses. But, considering the average dive conditions there ( ie-currents, etc.), are there many opportunities for anything else such as macro? Thanks for everyone’s input! trimix125 73 Posted January 28, 2020 There is some, but you have to find it by yourself... Lot of time hanging on the edge of canals looking for sharks in the blue. The guides are only for big stuff.... Would plan wide angle and fish portraits. Regards, Wolfgang
TimG 62 Posted January 29, 2020 I’d agree with Wolfgang although it might depend a bit on whether you’re on liveaboards or a resort. With resorts I’ve been able to use macro - in the South Ari Atoll area. But, generally, yeah, wide-angle.
