Nauticam housing spare part ID needed...

Recommended Posts

I've got a Nauticam housing for my Canon EOS 70D and in the process of reconfiguring it slightly and have lost some original bits.

Currently i have a ball mount for a gopro mounted which i want to remove.  The problem is, removing this requires some sort of reducer and screw to complete the housing setup but im unable to find the name (or part numbers) i need.

This is the mounting hole with the  ball removed.

The other side has a reducer of some sort and screw as can be seen here:-

Basically im after the name and/or part numbers of these items (reducer thingy and screw so can order them and remove the unneeded ball mount.

This happens to all of us. I have always found going to your local store that sells high quality stainless steel screws/bolts. Take you stuff with you and it is highly likely you will find exactly what you want. Not worth fretting over. All manufacturers us "standard" screws/bolts.

Worth trying too a ship's chandlery store.

I got a plate made in Thailand (Chon Buri) in stainless steel to go on my housing. I'm sure you can track down there what you need or get it made.

That doesn't look like a Nauticam part at least not for any housing I have used. As Bill1946 says, go to your local hardware store and find the size of screw that fits the hole. Then get a stainless steel one (316 is best, 304 is OK).

Most likely it is a 6 mm screw size but might be 8.

Just use the right size bolt and flat washer in stainless steel.  They will be metric threads.

Local store isnt really an option where i am in Thailand as there are none.  All would involve multi hour trips to a city and back and even then the chances of them understanding what i need are slim!

Its a genuine, newly bought Nauticam housing so the parts themselves should all be Nauticam.

Its the reducer thing i need really as without that i cant screw the handle down.

Looking at the housing here:  https://www.nauticam.com/blogs/news/announcing-canon-70d-housing

The attachment is nothing but a bolt and flat washer.  I'd be surprised if could not be found nearby.  My guess looking at it is an M6 bolt probably 10mm long.  As a stop gap you could take the attachment bolt from the ball mount and cut it shorter and it would work even without a washer.

I get your frustration. Can you find another person with a similar set up and try their bolt? The size MAY be stamped on a common item. If not, try to measure it in metric. If you can determine thread and length have anyone mail you one.
