DSS 1 Posted February 20, 2020 I just got my Sony A6600, Nauticam housing and already have two Inon D-2000 strobes. I've been told that my only option to trigger the strobes is Nauticam's trigger designed for the A6600. The Nauticam trigger does not support TTL and I didn't want to cut off that option if I didn't have to. Does anyone know of other options? Has anyone used the S-Turtle TTL Trigger with the A6600 (or other A6XXX), if so your thoughts? Thanks, David 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

stuartv 34 Posted March 20, 2020 UWT seems very popular here on WetPixel. I think one reason is that an engineer (? I think) from UWT is on here often providing good support. @Pavel Kolpakov If you buy one, make sure you buy it from somewhere that has very fresh stock. UWT apparently had a bad batch of triggers for Sony. A couple of us here got bitten by that. Me, with my a7rIV and another member with an a6400, I believe. Some later the issue was fixed. The whole batch replacement is already sent to dealers. If anybody needs a replacement, please ask your local dealer or UWT directly, the replacement will be shipped the same day. UWTechnics specially developed new product (#11077-HSS) for NA-6600 housing. It also includes Retra TTL-profile and HSS. Among plastic housings supported for today are only Seafrogs (Meikon), Ikelite and Nimar. But i think, the TTL-Converter #16033-HSS (for Seafrogs A6xxx housings) may be very similar for Fantasea, it even can fit. You have to specify some dimensions, contact UW Technics by e-mail. If so, what does it do? Does it make the strobe trigger LEDs flash or something to alert the user to moisture? Which also makes it where they cannot really use their strobes for taking pictures anymore? I'm curious because I think the trigger for my a7rIV does not have a strip like that? The photo is a of a SeaFrogs A6xxx Salted Line housing, and the converter replaces the moisture detector that ships with that housing. If that gold strip gets wet, the converter starts beeping loudly, same as the Meikon/SeaFrogs leak detector. If you're not too deep when a leak starts, you might be able to surface in time to save your camera and/or lens. See here for an example. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
stuartv 34 Posted March 22, 2020 @Barmaglot Thanks. I figured. It looks just like the strip in the bottom of my Meikon housing for my E-M10. I was really more curious about how it would alert the diver. I'm a doofus. I didn't even think of the possibility that it would beep. LOL I recently got a Sony camera and a Nauticam housing with the Nauticam vacuum port and the built-in leak and vacuum detector. Man, I am loving that! I used it for a week in Utila. I would put it all together and pull a vacuum the night before. Seeing that green light still on the next morning and each time before I splashed was a very comforting feeling!
