For Sale: Canon Powershot G12 and Canon WP-DC34 housing + Fantasea BigEye wet lens

I am selling a Canon Powershot G12 package that includes both the G12 camera and a Canon WP-DC34 underwater housing. This is a great little package to take underwater photos and is particularly suited for someone wanting to get started. For its size, the G12 takes very good pictures. It is also unique in that it is a compact camera that has the capability to shoot RAW and also in Manual mode, making it a very versatile little system.

I have not been diving with this housing in quite a while – I have been using the camera on land mostly. I recently checked the housing over, verified the O-ring was in good shape and also did a leak test with it. It had no problems, no leaks. It is in really good shape.

The camera is in overall great condition with a few nicks and scuffs from normal use, however, full disclosure, the G12 periodically freezes. This has not happened often but, every once in a while, it does this. The solution has been to turn it off and back on and that cures it. For me, it is just an occasional inconvenience, but it is something you should be aware of and consider in deciding whether to buy it. It still takes great pictures for its age and form factor and, aside from this, the camera works just fine.

Although I’d like to sell this as an all-inclusive package with both the camera and the housing, because of the G12 quirk mentioned above, I’m willing to sell just the housing and housing accessories (no camera), if you prefer (for instance, if you already have a G12).

For the FULL package including the G12, housing , BigEye lens and accessories, I am asking $270.00 + shipping,
For the just the Housing alone (including the BigEye lens and lens caddy - no G12), I’m asking $190.00 + shipping

NOTE: If you purchase the whole system, I can either ship in these two packages or combine them into one package if you want. Shipping would be about the same in either case, I think.)

  • This is used to add weight to the WP-DC34 to make it less buoyant. The housing is pretty floaty unless you have it on a tray setup with strobe arm(s). That kind of setup would add weight.

Please Note:
I have verified the housing is working as it should and does not leak. That being said, it is the buyer’s responsibility to know how to properly set up and maintain the housing. I recommend that if you buy this equipment, the first thing you do is perform a leak test on the empty housing to assure yourself that everything works as expected. I will not accept responsibility for damage to a camera due to a flooded housing! I just can’t - there are too many variables associated with how a person may use the equipment that I have no control over.
