hijodelmar 0 Posted June 2, 2020 Hi All, I have a small issue that I cannot resolve, I cannot deactivate the pre flash on my Panasanic LX10 I suppose like the majority of compact camera, I only fire my flash on manual, but it fires two times because the built in flash fire two times, I set the my Inon in different positions that offers the possibility to manage pre flash but stil not work. Any solution on the camera/flash that I can use to fire my flash only once? Note. If I put my camera en automatic, the flash fires only once. Thank you for helping out. TimG 62 Posted June 2, 2020 HI Sounds like you need to cancel the pre-flash that operates on the Inon. I'm not sure exactly how the Z330 works compared to the Z240 I owned but this might help: https://reefphoto.com/blogs/lighting/selecting-the-proper-settings-for-inon-strobes-
Kraken de Mabini 168 Posted June 3, 2020 The Inon Z330 Manual has instructions to control flash mode and intensity on pp 21-23. 1. Push in and lock the Advanced Cancel Switch, the lower right. 2.Set the Main Mode switch (upper left) to M (or Full if needed). 3.The EV Control Switch (upper right) controls the flash output. = ReefPhoto has this for some previous Inon flashes, like the D2000 and Z240: https://reefphoto.com/blogs/lighting/selecting-the-proper-settings-for-inon-strobes-1ADVANCED CANCEL CIRCUIT This feature is for use with External Auto and Manual Modes when using pre-flash type cameras. The circuit reproduces the camera’s pre-flash, but at higher intensity than the camera flash. This creates optimum underwater performance, faster recycle time for the camera flash, quicker follow-up shots, and longer camera battery life. To accomplish this, the INON emits a pre-flash up to 22 times stronger than the camera pre-flash. The camera 'sees' this strong pre-flash, judges the subject to be close to the camera, and decreases the power (duration) of the main flash by the camera. The minimal main flash by the camera results in faster recycle time of the camera flash, and extended camera battery life. If your camera does not fire a pre-flash, ACC must be disabled. The ACC is ON by default, but can be disabled in one of two ways, depending on the model of strobe: Strobes with a Magnet Hole Strobes with a Dial Switch For models with a magnet hole type switch, insert the provided magnet and secure in place using the provided retaining screw to disable ACC. For models with a dial type switch, depress the dial and rotate to lock in the depressed position to disable ACC.
ChrisRoss 150 Posted June 4, 2020 If you put the magnet in or push in the switch and lock then ACC is turned off and it will flash on both flash and pre-flash. If you leave the switch up them ACC is on and it is supposed to ignore the pre--flash. Its definition of ignore unfortunately is not what you might think - it ignores it as far as not doing anything about the exposure as a result of the pre-flash, however at least on my Z-240 it flashes on both the pre-flash and the main flash, I tested it just now by putting my camera/flash in second curtain sync mode and with a 1 second expsore I can clearly see the flash going off twice. So it appears you cannot stop it responding to the pre-flash.
hijodelmar 0 Posted June 5, 2020 Thank you All, it seems to be not working with the LX10, I tried to lock th eflash and unlock the flash, in full power I don't see the Inon triggers two times, but when I put it on low light or half, it still triggers two times. Hi, thanks for responding, I think the Lx10 and z-240 have the same behaviour, there is no solution with this flash, In the past I used a Sean And Sea Flash and never had an issue with it, pre flash works perfectly. ChrisRoss 150 Posted June 6, 2020 It only triggers once in full power because it does not have enough time to recharge after the initial full power dump. This also means you means it only flashes for the pre-flash so no flash at the proper time for the exposure - so you can't use it at full power with a camera that pre-flashes. Fortunately with the LX-10 being a 1" sensor camera you get more depth of field at any given magnification so you only need to stop down to f5.6 or so, which means you normally would not need full power.
