jamesslogan 0 Posted October 19, 2004 I can't capture video from my sony camcorder and trnsfer it to adobe premiere. I had someone who does special effects for a living and after two hours we just used movie maker. Can anyone help to take me through the process. I believe special drivers are needed for sony dv camcorders when using premiere. cheers Jamie
richorn 0 Posted October 19, 2004 In many cases, there are Adobe support folks on available on-line at www.adobe.com/support/forums. Not only is there an excellent user base for quick answers to specific questions, the support staff at Adobe does, if I am not mistaken, monitor the forum as well. Very quick response time, no charge!
craig 0 Posted October 19, 2004 I am not familiar with DV capture within Premiere since I've never used it but I seriously doubt that Sony DV camcorders require special drivers. Sony invented DV transfer over firewire after all (and put firewire on the map in the process). I use Scenalyzer for batch loading of tapes. Doubt you'd have any problem with that. jcclink 8 Posted October 21, 2004 Connect camera to PC via firewire cable Depending on what version of Premiere you're using the camera may have to be turned on before you open Premiere. I use a mini-dv vcr vs my camera for downloading. The camera may also have to be set to VCR mode (not sure). New Project File/Capture/Movie Capture Set Preferences for Captive Location & Device Control (for your model Sony) You should be capturing to a dedicated hard drive, not just a partition of C: for best performance Should work unless there are system conflicts. Is this your first attempt at capturing & using Premiere? What version? Good Luck.
