dnscarboro 0 Posted October 29, 2004 I am new to underwater video I have a Sony TRV 950 with Ikelite housing and Ikelite Pro Video Lite II. I am using Adobe Prem. Pro 6.5 with Matrox RX100 to edit. This is all well and good but, does anyone know of any place, person, or company that can give instructions on the proper use techiques of all this equipment? I am more intrested in the capturing, I have the editing down some what, but hey you have got to have some half way good footage to edit. Most everyting I have seen for instruction is for still photos etc. Any help or names would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
MikeVeitch 0 Posted October 30, 2004 I will be offering just that sort of thing in Yap after i get there next week. Also, most resorts and liveaboards that have video services offer video courses.
CamDiver 5 Posted December 3, 2004 There are no real tried and tested underwater video training schools per se. The best way to go about learning is to get the basics explained to you during a vacation and sign up for a UW video course with a resort pro, Mike for example in Yap. Besides that I know Mike and he's a tremendously accomplished photographer and video pro. After that it's all about practice, practice, practice. Put to good use the skills learned and don't be afraid to try something new. Because it's not in the "manual" don't think it doesn't work. Sometimes the best results are achieved by adapting to the conditions at hand and making the best of them. If you're in bad water conditions don't look for the best artistic shot. If you're after behaviour, get it and get out. If the bahaviour is caught on film the strength of the script or storyline will carry the image thru. Welcome to one of the most rewarding, frustrating, pleasureable, suicide inducing yet satisfying areas of underwater imagery. Best fishes, Mark.
