The flat port for my Ike CP 5000 housing was on very tightly also. It has two small holes in the rim on the outside of the flat port. It came with a tool to insert in them to unscrew the flat port. Even with this tool the flat port seemed too tight to unscrew. After reassurance I used a lot more force and it did unscrew without any damage to the housing or the port. I had to use so much force that the metal tool that you inserted in the holes bent when I unscrewed the flat port. I have never used the flat port since as the dome port works so well.

Thanks davephdv!

But the original port of the ike 8080 housing has neither hole nor any grove on it, it completely silky smooth and I tried hard to unscrew it with a oil filter wrench and with the strength as much as I can give. But the port simply stay still... :?

I had forgotten that Ike did indeed recommend unscrewing the dome port with a filter wrench (strap). I'd probably call/e-mail Ike. They might suggest that you get someone to help you. I imagine they put two people on it when they have this problem.

OOH...

I tried again and still cannot unscrew it. Only have I left some scratches on the port...

I'm now thinking about shipping my housing and the new port to ike and have them change it for me. But this raise a problem, that is how will it be if I want to use my old port again...!?

I'm now pretty upset as I can see the new port, I can touch the new port, but I just cannot use it!! :D

Ikelite shipped my dome port for my 5060 (not the same but similar) with a rubber strap wrench. It took a little bit of force to get the original port off. The first time, it was more force than I was willing to put on it, but after talking with Clint Seeley at The Dive Shop, he told me that it might take some muscle. So setting the housing on its back with the back off, using the wrench, it finally gave.

I now keep the strap wrench in with my dive tools, because on occation, the WA port or the original has become a bit more than hand-tight after a weeks worth of diving.

As my dive buddy Joel indicated, the rubber strap wrench will work. By the way, his came off a heck of a lot easier than mine did !!! I broke a serious sweat trying to unscrew my standard port. Now I store the housing without any port attached and add whatever one I need before I dive.

Mine came with the strap wrench and it was very hard to brake the standard port loose. I made my dive shop owner do it in case there was trouble... The dome port is not even close to being that tight.

I'm wondering as I can never screw my new port to my housing as tight as ike did, so will there be any chance that it will be leaky...??

The dome port on my 5000 housing is only hand tight. It has never leaked and if I need to take it off I just unscrew it by hand. The O-ring is what maintains the water tightness. I would specifically not tighten it too tight.

I agree it seems to work just fine. I think it's just a little unnerving at first because the original port was on soooo tight.

I can't select macro with the WAL in the port but I am interested to see how the macro works with the dome port with no lens.
