rwe 4 Posted April 22, 2021 I would like to mount my dive light to my Fantasea housing hot shoe. Is there an adapter made for this or has anyone done a DIY mount?
TimG 62 Posted April 23, 2021 ULCS make a number of hot shoe mounts: https://ulcs.com/accessory-shoe-mounts/ What sort of fitting does your dive light have?
ChrisRoss 150 Posted April 23, 2021 You can use something like this: https://www.scubapix.com/essentials/arms-clamps-trays/mounts/25321-long-strobe-mounting-ball-for-cold-shoe/ or https://www.opticaloceansales.com/nauticam-long-stem-ys-cold-shoe-mount.html I prefer the long versions as it gives more flexibility pointing the light downwards, there will be other brands about - all cold shoes are pretty much the same. It will get loose at the worst moment and fall off, sometimes when you don't notice. Speaking from personal experience, I now nail down tight all lights via clamps / screws, and don't even use bayonet mounts for wide angle wet lenses.
Dann-Oh 40 Posted July 20, 2021 If you go with the ULCS system they will also include an "Oh $hit Leash" for your light in case it does fall off.

My focus light is cold shoe mounted and has a lanyard and I loop that around the closest arm clamp and tighten the little bungee clip down - doesn't interfere with the clamp operation or positioning the light and will save the light if it comes loose, plus it keeps the lanyard from floating around. Some (like the Nauticam) have a positive lock you must press to release them.
PhotoJunkie 17 Posted July 21, 2021 Even with the bayonet mount I use a lanyard. When it is moved from the port to the arm bracket I know that if I don’t have a lanyard I will drop it, and most likely on a wall dive!

Guess what a quick accidental twist during a strong current caused me to lose the lens once, and I only found out when I drifted too far away. I've never found the need to constantly swap wide/ macro wet lenses on any dive, so I just screw them in now.
