I have an opportunity to buy a used one locally. The z240 is $50 more. I would be hsing this on a TG6 and shoot primarily macro but may at some point get a wide angle lens as well. What do you all recommend?

I have had both. Definitely the z240. Slightly bigger but better lighting and more importantly better knobs' control

For the difference go for the Z240.

z240 is a strobe able to do wide angle better than the s2000. Besides that allows you also electrical connection (you do not need it now, but who knows in the future)

regarding the knobs, the ones of the z240 are also small and difficult to operate with  thick gloves in cold water, but you can arrange some knob caps to solve the issue.

Or you can find other ones in other shops or even at thingiverse if you can get access to a 3D printer

That depends on the housing you have.

You need the Optical Cable Adapter: PFCA-03, that it is supposed to come with the housing.

with that I might have 2 rubber adapters where the optical fiber will be inserted.

if you have the rubber bush, you can select one of the optical D cables (choose the length that suit you best)

http://www.inon.jp/products/strobe/optical/cable.html

if you do not have the rubber bush, you need to got for an optical D cable set that includes the bush.

But be careful regarding the version of your strobe. Grant that the adapter on the cable is the right one for your strobe (on the Z240 type IV, the sensor on the strobe changed and the cable for the type IV does not fit on the previous versions of the Z240. The cable for the previous versions fits on the type IV)

INON cables I have purchased came with both fittings - they can be swapped over. I actually prefer the old style fitting on the new style strobe.

The first one listed on this page will work fine:  http://www.inon.jp/products/strobe/optical/capset.html

or you can buy the cable and the small bushes separately as well.

You do need a plug socket on your housing as well to accept the small cable end, it replaces the diffuser.

As Chris already pointed out, you will need a plug to attach over/on the diffuser of the housing. That plug takes the camera end of the optical cable.

Picture here gives an idea http://www.divervision.com/olympus-pt-058-housing-inon-d-200-strobe-set-for-olympus-tg-5-tg-6.html (added cut out)

That "cap" is not included in a "cable set", you'll need the "Optical D Cable Type L / Cap W Set" And according to the table at the bottom of the Inon page, you'll need the right version that fits to your housing.
Hope you have a decent local dealer who understands what you need. Good luck!

The Olympus pt059 has included in the box an adapter for the optical fiber (at least on the sites I found info about the housing). The adapter is the part “Optical Cable Adapter PFCA-03”, you can fin a picture of it at https://www.aditech-uw.com/en/shop/5061-olympus-pfca-03.html

If you have this part and the bush, you just need the cable with the adapter for Inon (the version your strobes are, type 4 or previous) and the other point just the optical fiber (to be inserted into the rubber bush and the bush into the adapter.

Shoot manual, set the TG-6 to manual flash at minimum power, push the magnet switch in and lock (LH button below power dial) in and set the strobe mode to manual.

Set the power to maybe f5.6 as a starting point assuming you are shooting macro at f6.3/ISO200  and adjust from there.  I would normally suggest starting out in Av - shutter speed should bottom out at 1/100 when you use fill flash mode and max zoom for macro if I recall correctly.
