Use of Li-Ion AA batteries in strobes

Recommended Posts

Hi

Looking to use Li-Ion AA batteries in strobes like YS110a, i couldn;t find relevant info.

Has anybody test such approaches using i.e. Saft LS-14500 or any advice on what not to do?

Thanks in advance

There are old threads on this topic. Look them up for more details.

TLDR; NiMH batteries work better for this application.

There are some strobes designed to work with Lithium battery backs, but not AA cells.

The Saft LS-14500  is a 3.6V battery while strobes typically use 1.2V NiMH batteries, so no, you would not be able to use Li-ion in strobes as the voltage would be too high.

Thanks for the information Chris and Dave. Eneloop (or IKEA rebranded) are the way to go.
