Spizeck 3 Posted July 16, 2020 Hello All, I'm a lucky US Diver who lives in Arizona. Most of my diving is in Mexico or San Diego. My wife also dives and we have taken a trip to the Red Sea (which was AMAZING!). The only part that wasn't great was everyone else was German... Imagine being on a boat for 7 days where literally everyone understands English, but no one speaks it unless talking directly to you. 2020 was set to be an awesome year with 2 dive trips planned, but then COVID happened... Luckily, I am working on a remote US Military Island with 84 degree water, 3 shore dive entry points and an amazing reef. Have 50 dives in the last 4 months. Started diving with a gopro, then moved to a paralenz, discovered video editing is not any fun. I then moved into a TG-6, started getting incredible photos, one of my coworkers wanted to buy the same setup but I decided to sell him mine and moved into the mirrorless world. Just getting my new camera this week. Excited to get wet with it. Spizeck
Koba1 2 Posted July 16, 2020 Hello! This is my first post. I'm happy to be here with so many divers with the same interest. I started diving around 10 years ago, but even as a child I liked to be in the pools bottom, open naked eyed looking for items to find. I started taking pictures with a RX100+ ikelite. Than I bought a ys-d1 strobe for the colors. Then later I attached a wet wide lens. i usually dive in Egypt and Croatia. My next trip would be in october ( Red sea), but I'm afraid the epidemic will cross my plans. I live in Hungary, so english is not my native language. scuba-tim 1 Posted July 17, 2020 Greetings all, I'm Tim, I live in Southern California, USA and have been shooting underwater for about 15 years. Just made the lead from micro 4/3 mirrorless to DSLR. I dive mostly here in SoCal, where the water's cold and often green, but there's lots of life, especially great macro subjects.

Pistola55 18 Posted July 19, 2020 Hello Wetpixel Community, My real name is Peter, but I'll go by Pistola55 as my profile name and yes - there is a story behind the name "pistola" but we'll leave that for another time ; ) I live in San Diego, California and I've been a certified diver since 1983. I was certified while serving in the military in Okinawa, Japan. I bought my first u/w camera soon thereafter, it was a Nikonos IV which then became a Nikonos V and you know how the story goes from there. Housed SLRs where in the inevitable future and then when digital hit (think Nikon D100) it was like being hit by a ton of bricks. I have had some photos published and won some local competitions but was never anywhere near a professional. Just a passionate amateur. Long story short.. I'm still a very active diver here in San Diego (and yes - I dive in a drysuit) and travel as much as possible. Now a days my camera of choice is a simple yet amazing little GoPro8 with a tray and TLC arms and two Light & Motion video lights. I really enjoy shooting and editing video creating a story. Thank you for reading this far and I'm looking forward to learning and experiencing anything new. Peter
Itofu0031 0 Posted July 21, 2020 Hi all, I'm Spencer living in Melbourne AU. I'm a fresh scuba diver with advanced open water certificate and just started to use UW camera for photography, while I already have several years experience of photography by using DSLR camera on land. I'm now with a Olympus tg6 camera with the same brand housing and a X-adventurer M6000 video light and some related accessories. I searched on the internet and found this forum with professional information about UW photography device evaluations and using experiences. Recently I need to change for a DSLR housing which can fit my Nikon D750 and some lens. I would be happy to share my experience here and look for you guys recommendations as well. Cheers Spencer

DeepDiscovery 0 Posted July 23, 2020 Hello All! I've been in and around the wetpixel community for many years, but have not been very active here for some time. Looks like some things have changed since I was last frequent here... So, in order to become current again, and to introduce myself as part of that process, I have lived a great many places in my lifetime, but I seem to have settled, at least for the time being, in the land-locked Bluegrass State, in the mid-west, USA. I have been a PADI instructor for 35 years and have enjoyed photography, both above and underwater for longer than that. The wetpixel community was tremendously helpful and educational to me when I switched from film to digital about 20 years ago. Currently, I am especially enjoying the new wetpixel live series. As we are all locked down and waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to release us from its life altering antics, its nice to have a place like wetpixel to stay connected to underwater photography... I look forward to being a part of the wetpixel community, and watching it continue to grow, over the next 20 years! Cheers!
gnosenzo 0 Posted July 26, 2020 Hi everyone, I guess for a short intro, I've been diving for a bit over a decade now. Started predominantly in California, then Florida, and these days the waters of Guam, plus the occasional trip here or there over the years. Lately I've been freediving more than anything else, but do both open and closed circuit stuff as well. I started to get into (and absolutely love) cave diving towards the end of my time in Florida, but there's not much opportunity for that out here so it's kind of on the back burner for now. Instead, these days I've been focusing more on photography/videography, hence joining this site.

andywillett 6 Posted July 26, 2020 Hi I think I'm posting in the correct place? I have been diving for 35 years, a PADI instructor for over 20 years. I took up underwater photography in the 80's, built my own camera housings and flash housings then. I even had a old zenith SLR in a housing. I now use a Olympus EM1mk2 in a Nauticam. Just a tad better! I would be pleased to be able to share and also learn from this Excellent platform. Regards Andy Willett

Chris W. 0 Posted July 27, 2020 Hello, I'm a US diver living in Florida. I began diving in 1989 and have always had a passion for it. I'm an avid cave diver. I'm somewhat new to underwater photography and videography but have been doing quite a bit of it as of later. I'm looking forward to improving my skills and picking up new techniques and tips. Cheers, Chris
kristapsdz 8 Posted July 28, 2020 Hi folks! I'm a technical and free diver currently living in Malta. I dive a few times a week---always with a camera, to an extent where I wouldn't even know what to do with myself otherwise. I publish most photos at Not Awful Underwater Photos. I'm here primarily for classifieds. I've long been using a crop-sensor DSLR and wet lenses. Lately I've felt the wide-angle wet lens is holding me back despite a love affair with switching from macro to wide-angle on demand. So I'm on the market for a more stable relationship---a Nikon full frame set: housing (Nauticam/Easydive), dome and flat ports, and camera with lenses fitting into the ports. The lighting, arms, and all the other stuff I have, but if it were on the table as a package I'd consider it. I'd also give a Sony kit of the same style consideration due to having great experiences with the RX100 class a few cameras ago. Happy diving, Kristaps

DeepBlueOptics 0 Posted August 2, 2020 Hi, I'm a diver in Southern California but I rarely dive here, I prefer warm water. I've been taking UW photos for about 15 years. I started out with a Sea Life point and shoot and now I'm using a full frame D810 in a Sea & Sea MDX housing. I plan to upgrade to the D850 soon. I enjoying hearing and learning from others who enjoy this passion. I'm looking forward to reading the forums. Dennis
Vivian Kristoffersson 0 Posted August 3, 2020 Hi, I am Vivian, a Swedish diver who swore I would never dive in cold water. That was back in 2011. Now I dive year round in all kinds of waters, warm, cold, icy, blue, green, murky, seas, lakes, caves... I bought my first UW camera in 2018. A Nikon Coolpix W300. I was inspired by a Swiss guy who we dove with in PNG, and who took fantastic UW photos with his, what I thought was a 'pro rig'. That got me started and hooked on UW photography. When that first camera broke, I found a used Canon G10 in an Ikelite housing with a single Ikelite strobe. Now UW photography started to be really interesting, and I forced my most frequent dive buddies to help me getting great photos. I also tried taking videos with my GoPro 7, but found I liked still photos better. Tomorrow I have booked a meeting with the guys from Exposure Underwater in Malmö, and I am planning to spend the money intended for our dive trip to Soccorro in November, on a new camera rig, with strobes, macro and wide angle lenses and all. I am so excited!!!
kelpscape 0 Posted August 3, 2020 Greetings! I've been shooting underwater seriously since the Film Age (1999).
