FEROXED 0 Posted August 30, 2021 On 8/28/2021 at 10:30 AM, Gindrik said: Hi everyone. My name is Kevin Peyrusse and I live in Marseille, South of France. Always passionate about the complexity and richness of marine ecosystems, I first studied marine biology and worked on coral fish larvae in Polynesia, before becoming, over the years, an underwater cinematographer and a wildlife film director. I am convinced that the beauty revealed by the images attracts the eye, arouses curiosity and helps to better understand, becoming a very effective tool for science communication and raising awareness of the dire straits of the natural world. I started to film 8 years ago and we did an independent movie Eqalusuaq – On the trail of the Hidden Predators, followed the adventure in Alaska of two free divers and photographers looking for salmon sharks. After this great first experience I had the pleasure to work for international documentary channels (Arte, National Geographic, BBC) and some prestigious recent diving expeditions, from the cool waters of the Arctic to incredibly biodiverse tropical waters (Under The Pole, Gombessa). I am constantly looking for efficient and effective tools in order to improve the quality and originality of the shots. I started freedive when I was a child but but now I am using a rebreather each time I can approach animals without bubbles and be able to be really close to them. During these years, I tried many competing housing brands, but since the beginning, it is Nauticam with whom I equipped all my personal cameras. I am filming with a RED Dragon, a Blackmagic Pocket 6K and an A7Siii. Nauticam remains the only one to offer the possibility of using different brands of video and photo cameras with the same set of domes and that's an essential point for me during a remote expedition. Here is a quick video summary: https://vimeo.com/406574387 I learned a lot on this forum and with great underwater photographers advises, now I would like to be more active, share informations and interesting tips with community, mainly about material and techniques. Can wait to tchat with you, Kévin OH my word Kevin! Welcome and if I may, STUNNING Showreel. Being in the right place at the right time, is one thing. Getting stunning shots like yours, is another story all together. Well done!! Cheers

Mel45 2 Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) Hello all, Mel here. Based in Aus on the Great Barrier Reef, I currently shoot with a full manual compact setup but am upgrading to a full frame system. Had a bit of luck and success with the compact, have enjoyed it but definitely time to move on! As we're not allowed to travel internationally at the moment definitely making the best of local diving. GabrielTidswell 0 Posted September 5, 2021 Hi all. Been hooked by diving ever since I completed my Open Water Diver in Croatia in 2018. Managed to get some more dives under my belt in Crete in 2019 however COVID-19 put diving off the cards for a while until recently when I was able to get into the chilly home waters of the UK for the first time. It's great to get back into diving and has kick-started a desire to combine diving with my interest in photography. Going to be using this forum to help me get started and learn about the kit I will need.

DynamicDivers 1 Posted September 8, 2021 Hi! I'm a professional diver (Padi OWSI - www.DynamicDivers.com) and professional photographer (www.DenDigital.com) who is making the obvious step to combine my two loves and get more serious with my underwater photography. I've shot photos on my dives for years using small compact point and shoot cameras and most recently my RX100 MacGuyvered with the strobe from an old Sea Life 1200 setup I bought 13 years ago. I've now jumped over to an Ikelite housing for my Canon 5DS, and am in the process of getting strobes and figuring out how to turn my pool into an underwater studio. Looking forward to receiving and contributing to the collective wisdom on WetPixel! Den
MatthewManta 0 Posted September 9, 2021 Good morning everyone. I am a UK based diver, but have only dived in nice warm places, like the Maldives. Hoping it shifts from red to amber soon. Upgrading my equipment from a Sony RX-100 MKIII to a housing for my Nikon D850 and pondering the options. Obsessed with Manta since I first snorkelled with them in 1999 and the only camera available to me was a disposable...

cxjohnson 0 Posted September 17, 2021 Hello all! Looking forward to learning from everyone here and improving my very mediocre pictures (taken with my TG6 set up). What's really driven me to join the forum, though, is I'm getting more and more intrigued by the idea of underwater drones to capture images of critters I'll never be able to dive deep enough to see. Is there a thread in the forum for people who have toyed with this or have experience? There doesn't seem to be a lot on the internet about taking photos/videos of deep sea life with drones by hobbyists. Anyway, good diving Chad

We hope you find it a really helpful forum and look forward to your contributions. Nope, there isn't a forum for drone users. But why not post the questions and ideas in a new post under Techniques. I'm sure you'll get all sorts of interest. Best wishes

It'd probably better if you start a new post for this in the Classifieds. You'll see lots of people put "WTB" (Want to Buy) posts when they are looking for equipment. You'll need to make a couple more posts first before you can create a Classifieds post. There's a system in place to try and prevent folks from just joining to advertise equipment for sale on the Classifieds. Good choice on the Subal!

Redbird 0 Posted September 21, 2021 Greetings from Monterey Bay! I am brand spanking new to Scuba diving (10 dives) and have immediately immersed (PUN INTENDED) into it. I have lived in the Monterey Bay area my whole life and can't believe I waited so long to explore it underwater. Above water I work as a cinematographer and photographer, so naturally I am fully interested in expanding that to underwater. I own a RED Komodo and a Sony A7siii for video and A7Riv for stills. So if anyone has any non-underwater video related questions about gear, software (DaVinci, Premiere, Lightroom) I would called myself a super advanced user since its what I do for a living. Anyways, great to be here and learn more about the underwater community! Cheers!
