I am based in Melbourne, Australia. I have stumbled across this page as a result of searching for information about a problem with one of my Sea & Sea YS-03 strobes. Hoping I can find the answer to the problem, but also enjoying reading all of the other content people have generously posted here. It looks like it will be a wonderful group to be a part of. supermacro 0 Posted February 10, 2022 Hello from the beautiful mountains of North Carolina! I started my UW photography journey in 2015 while living in Indonesia. For 5 years I traveled the world diving and photographing, collaborating with University students, researchers, conservation groups and NGOs to provide images to support their work. Then COVID hit, and we all know how that goes. I haven’t traveled, or been in the ocean for a few years. I am really look forward to engaging with the Wetpixel community and getting some motivation back. Lastly, I have been trying to film in the rivers here. However, it is extremely challenging to manage dive gear, let alone camera gear, in white water. Curious if anyone has pointers. Thanks! Jessica

LuxPro 0 Posted February 17, 2022 Hi all, I'm a documentary filmmaker in the SF Bay Area and have been a hobbyist diver for years, shooting underwater with a GoPro and red filter. I now have an opportunity to step my game up a bit and invest in bringing some of that higher end gear underwater with me. It's a bit harrowing finding the right equipment for the right price and I'm looking forward to learning from this community. Best, Lux
FransDuikt 0 Posted February 18, 2022 Hi from Holland, Living in Holland where I dive our local lake on a weekly basis (always in drysuit) though prefer tropical waters, caves and wrecks. Active in UW photography since 2013 off and on and picked up photogram some years ago. Recently moved from Olympus M5ii with Nauticam housing to Sony A7r with Easydive housing (20mm f1.8 lens and 24-70mm f2.8 lenses both from sony). I noticed that every time I'm looking for information wetpixel is included in the most useful search result so i hope to contribute a little but also and perhaps ask some questions regarding my challenges. Best regards, Frans.

vinmatt 0 Posted February 20, 2022 Hi, My name is Vinay Mathew, im from India. friends call me Vinny or Vinmatt and this later changed to finny after I lost a fin while diving at Darwins arch (now known as Pillars of evolution) in Galapagos. Ive been diving for about 4 years and picked up a camera as diving got me interested in photography. I've been serious about underwater photography for about the past 2 years and ever since the pandemic hit, I havent been able to travel much so had been focusing on what I can find around my backyard/ garden and a pond I have in the garden. I started with a fuji xt2 and now I have the canon r5 in a nauticam housing with 2 sea and sea ysd2 strobes and 2 keldan 4x video lights. Keith Johnson 0 Posted February 20, 2022 Hi. I'm Keith Johnson in the UK. I've been diving for about 20 years and taking photos underwater for about 10 years. Honestly, I'm a relatively casual diver with about 400 dives so far. However, I love it and love taking photos underwater. It's great to be back in the water after 2 years and finally got to dive again in November in Grenada and I'm off to the Galapagos in a few weeks. Really looking forward to being part of the community at Wetpixel.

Rob Giersch 1 Posted February 22, 2022 Hello! My name is Rob Giersch and I am excited to learn a lot from this community. My first experience with UW Photography was in 1995 when I moved to The Philippines and worked in Asia/Middle East for about 4 years. Started with a Nikonos V, macro frames, slide film; and spent a good 2 years spending just about every other weekend down at Batangas or Puerto Gallera chasing Nudibranchs and crabs. Took a loooong hiatus on diving when I moved back to the states, started a family.... you know the drill. Only dipped my toe back in the waters with the family a few years ago, so re-acquainting myself with UW and the possibilities digital and new technology opens up. Have always shot Canon for good or bad, so currently use Nauticam w/my 5D MkIV but want to upgrade to the R5 as I went mirrorless a few years ago for my topside work. I retired in 2020 and am focusing VERY hard on playing as hard as I can and scratching the photography itch that has plagued me since high school. My main focus is adventure sports and I spend the majority of my time shooting whitewater and MTB, but really just enjoy being outdoors experiencing whatever Mother Nature is willing to share. You can see my topside work here: https://www.robgierschphotography.com/ I have really seen the creative difference that lighting can make in one's photography and am excited to see how this translates to UW. You can also see some of my old slide images from mid 90's here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.17454787672&type=

NanoHawk 0 Posted February 24, 2022 Howdy from Texas! I learned to dive in 2010 and on my first open water dive took a single use film camera with me. The photos turned out horrible, but I was hooked on the idea of taking pictures underwater. I replaced that with a Canon Powershot G9 in a Canon case that I promptly flooded on my second dive trip. Sent that camera back to Canon, they revived it. Switched to an Ikelite housing. Kept diving it for a few years. Mostly took photos I'd enjoy as the G9 had it's share of limitations. Around 2015 I sold that camera and housing in what was supposed to be a year or two break from diving while I built a house. That turned into an unscheduled break from diving for several years.... life gets in the way sometimes. I'm in the process of rebuilding my dive photo rig and joined here to network with others who enjoy UW photography.

Rene Weterings 1 Posted February 25, 2022 (edited) Hi all, It''s about time that I visit this forum more often and share the passion in underwater photography, so here's a bit of an introduction of myself. I am René Weterings, married to Cindy and together we have two wonderful kids (Isis and Rowan). We live in the Netherlands and I regularly dive in the Dutch waters, mainly the salt waters like Lake Grevelingen and The Eastern Scheldt. Together with my family we like to go to places to snorkel and scuba dive, preferably in warm waters. ;-) My passion is underwater photography, but I also like to write stories. I regularly write articles about scuba diving, travelling and underwater photography in print and online. I also like to participate in shoot-out contests, like the Open Dutch Championship in Underwater Photography and the Open Belgian Championship in Underwater Photography. I can proudly say I won the Belgian in 2015 and the Dutch in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. In 2019 I was lucky enough to participate in the CMAS World Championship in Underwater Photography on the beautiful Canarian Island of Tenerife. :-) At the moment I a work with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 mark III in a Nauticam housing. I have used INON strobes for 10 years, but I recently switched to Sea&Sea (YS-D3 mark II). My favorite lens is the Olympus 8mm fisheye PRO, but I also regularly use the Panasonic 45mm macro, Olympus 30mm and 60mm macro and the Olympus 12-40mm PRO. Being in the water is relaxing and I can't wait to visit more beautiful places on our planet in the future. Kind regards, René Weterings Edited February 25, 2022 by Rene Weterings
clarktheshark 0 Posted February 26, 2022 G'day all fellow underwater photo frothers, my name is Clark and I am Treasure Coast, Florida based marine biologist that has been shooting underwater since 2014. My adventures include Australia, the Bahamas, and locally around Floria. I started off shooting with an old Watershot housing with a Canon T1i with kit 18-55mm and then Tokina 10-17mm. I just upgraded to a Sony A7C with Nauticam and WWL-1 for the 28-60mm. I am new to the forum and looking to learn from you all, shop a bit and maybe even sell some old gear! Thanks and looking forward to connecting! -Clark
