Klipspringer 0 Posted February 20 Hi everyone, Garth Cripps here. My day job is in marine conservation and fisheries management, but the rest of the time I am a keen photographer, both in and out of the water... I've been using a Canon 7d ii + Nauticam housing for years, but am now finally making the shift to Sony mirrorless. Have a predilection for uw wide angles. I've already spent countless hours reading Wetpixel forums, so am looking forward to being part of a knowledgeable community! Cheers
KyleRoepke.cinema 1 Posted February 21 Hi, my name is Kyle and I am a cinematographer, tech diver, and ocean advocate. My passion is visual storytelling, and I’ve been lucky enough to spend many hours underwater camera in hand, I’ve worked for companies like discovery channel, Netflix, National Geographic, Sealegacy, and I own my own production company based out of Oregon. I’ve been on wet pixel for some time, and I appreciate the like-minded group of individuals. I find on these forms. Reach out if you have any questions, hope everyone is well.
MJ_ 1 Posted February 22 Hi all, I live in Melbourne, Australia. I've been casually diving for 10+ years, using a GoPro with video lights and then I used an Olympus TG-6 on a recent dive trip to Komodo. I'm really hooked on the photography side now, I found the limitations of the TG-6 pretty quickly and currently upgrading. I just bought an Olympus EM1-Mkii and now buying all the other gear I need to have a setup I will be satisfied with for a long time. Hope to learn everything I can from the seasoned veterans here! hobbytobiz 1 Posted February 22 Hello from NE Ohio. My name is Tom Szabo a Mechanical Engineer and Manufacturing Operations Executive. I was certified in 1991. I was only 2 then, yeah right! Photography has always bee a passion for me. So after certification, you guessed it underwater photography. I became a PADI Instructor in 1999. Worked at a local dive shop for 7+ years. I now have a couple small businesses: photography studio, Oceans Sands Jewelry featuring prehistoric megalodon and shark teeth, Elegant Wood Products and Home Town Notecards. My underwater photography has been published in PADI Sport Diver Magazine and Northeast Dive News. Diving experience has taken me to the Atlantic/Caribbean, Great Lakes (brrrr), Florida, Pacific and of course local quarries. I also served on the Board for the Maritime Archeological Survey Team (MAST).
stonetab 0 Posted February 22 I'm Tab. I've been taking photos underwater since 1980 starting with a class at Riding Rock where they gave us a pool cue to measure 3 optical feet to take pictures with a Nikonos 3.
Arianna Skipper 0 Posted February 25 Hello everyone! I'm a diver and photographer from central Florida. Recently moved to the NYC area for work, but I'm often between NY and FL. Shot Nikon originally, but I've been migrating to Sony. Still have an Aquatica for the D500, though. Looking for guidance on a variety of topics! Thanks for having me! diverareyouok 1 Posted February 28 (edited) Hi, I’m a full-time US attorney and part-time diver. I’m also a non-active PADI divemaster - as someone I know said, “diving is a lifestyle, not a career, so go back and finish school then dive on vacation” (I had taken a year off law school to move to the Philippines to get my DM via a long internship and nearly didn’t come back). Now, I usually work for 9 months in the USA then go diving in SE Asia for the other 3 months each year (since 2016, except during the pandemic). It helps that I don’t have kids or a significant other - I don’t have to worry about whether anyone else but me can I have such a crazy schedule. I have around 1600 total dives (+/- 100ish) and only recently discovered love for macro photography. I have been shooting photos with a Nikon aw130 for the last 5 years, but it finally died on me earlier this month at the tail end my most recent 3m trip. So, I decided to get a TG-6 with a backscatter air lens as the “next step up”. Although I had taken photos since getting my camera, it wasn’t until this recent trip that I actually really found I enjoyed it, especially nudibranches. By the end of the trip, I was feeling very stifled with my camera, so it’s probably a good thing but it died. At the moment, I am looking for good flashes to use with my tg6. So far I’ve found the backscatter mf2, s&s ys-03, Olympus ufl-3, and inon s2000. I’m currently looking at the differences between those, and probably will pull the trigger soon. Even though they’re still about another eight or nine months before I have to worry about actually having it… I prefer the shop used on eBay, although maybe the classified section here will be of some help. singularone 1 Posted February 28 (edited) Hi everyone. I was certified in 1982 in order to photograph underwater. That was before the digital revolution. I owned a number of cool systems over the decades, the most recent -Olympus OM-D EM MARK II in a Nauticam housing with a pair of Inon Z240 strobes. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to dive and plan to pass on my UW photo equipment as soon as I get my behind in gear. Hi I’m Aviva and I’m relatively new to UW photography. I’ve initially had a Panasonic LUMIX during the last few years. Sharks are my favorite animal—most of all hammerheads. I live in Colorado and so we are landlocked and mostly dive while on vacation at this point. Nice to meet everyone!! Hello World. I'm a Southern Californa diver and hobby photographer. I'm ideally diving in Cozumel or on a liveaboard somewhere, but I also dive locally here in SoCal. I'm shooting a Sony A7RIV with a Marelux housing and double YS-D2s. I have proven to myself over and over again that my skills as a photographer is sub-par at best. But I'm addicted to learning.... Hoping to take part in the community.

Do you use the animal eye feature or the human? How good is it at focusing on large animals like sharks/sea lions? Could I ask ask which wide angle setup you use in terms of lens and/or wet lens? Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BLUEWAVEFILMS 2 Posted March 31 Greetings from Munich, Germany! I'm a passionate diver who has been exploring the underwater world since 2011 when I and my wife began scuba diving. Ever since we love capturing the beautiful marine life through our camera lenses. We publish our videos and thoughts about ocean-related topics on our blog bluewavefilms.de. Sorry, the very most of the text is in German only, but many of our films have an English voice over or don't need any language at all to show the world that is hiding beneath the surface of our oceans. For us, diving is not just a hobby, but a way of life. And almost every vacation turns into an expedition and is spent underwater. I have known wetpixel.com for longer than my diving career but didn't join until now. :-) Cheers, Andreas
