Tzetsin 2 Posted April 27, 2013 HI folks I've been diving for a couple years now, and have been an extremely avid amateur photographer for a few more years than that. I just recently got the housing for my camera and have been looking for a dedicated underwater photographers forum to hang out and get to know others of like mind. I Currently live in Canada, but plan on moving to the Philippines fairly soon, where I intend to do a lot more diving and pursuing photography under the waves as well. I don't really have any questions relating to underwater photography, I'm enough photographer I think to work out my own solutions, but if there is anything anyone thinks I would do well to know before starting I would surly appreciate anyone telling me ;D I look forward to getting to know some of you soon! Been diving since 2007 with a Canon Ixus 70 and housing but wanted to move on to something more, had a borrow of an Oly E-PL1 on holiday in Gozo last year and loved it and just last week the housing arrived for it! philebo 0 Posted May 23, 2013 Hi All, I am looking for help with my underwater photo system. I do not know if I am posting in the right palce but I do not knw how to use the forum. I have a Olympus PEN PL1 with an underwater housing Olympus PT EP01. I need to use the manual focus. I heard that I have to buy a focus ring in ordert to make possible to regulate the focus with the wheel of the housing. Can someone give me more indications? What ring do I have to buy? Where can I buy it? Thanks a lot Lorenzo
seaslug57 0 Posted May 26, 2013 So, introductions. After six years of reading wetpixel, I'm going to stop lurking... I've been diving since 1974: learned in Thailand, then {Bonaire, Cayman, Bay Islands, Turks} many times; Sipadan, Spoilsport... once each. LOTS of Monterey (can we say Cypress Sea?) I knew we could. Starting shooting underwater early '90s with a Nikonos. Eventually flooded that. Got married, had a kid, which slowed my diving. Did a couple of start-ups, retired, had a brief spell of "lots of diving"... and got a serious case of gear lust: bought a Subal ND20 and all the fixings.Bad luck struck: went through a divorce, and my regular, loyal dive buddy got financially rained out. Haven't really been diving since -- and that gear (the ND20 and all?) Never got used, not even once. Next step: sell the ND20. If I get to go diving again, I'm not going to want to schlep an ND20 and all the fixins. So I'm back here, in part to do that. Maybe I'll get the lust again, but not for gear. There is a very esoteric, but heartfelt country song in this somewhere. I miss getting wet. But need to sell the ND20, so I'm here. John
theswede 0 Posted May 29, 2013 Greetings reader, I have been diving for 20 years and have always been interested in underwater photography, but just recently got a so called "semi-professional" camera (D300) and Seacam housing. My first photo dive was during my "Advanced Open Water" class in the mid-90s using a Motor Marine 2 camera, but then I didn't take any underwater pictures until about 5 years ago when I got a Panasonic LX3 with 10Bar housing. (some photos from this camera can be seen here: http://florida.scubasoft.net/#1.22 ) I live in Florida and primarily shoot pictures in caves. Hopefully I can learn a thing or two on this forum. Cheers, Andreas

irabraun1 0 Posted June 6, 2013 Hello all: Just getting back into UW photography. My impetus was the Olympus OMD system which I have used topside and love. Trying to get rid of my old Aquatica Canon 20D system. I'll try the classifieds here on Wetpixel. I'm fortunate to live in the Florida Keys. The ability to interact with and learn from those with a great deal of experience is invaluable. Glad to be here. Ira
edwinadkins 0 Posted June 7, 2013 Hi, I'm Edwin, and I'm new to this site. My work takes me to unusual places (Indonesia and Papua New Guinea recently) which provides opportunities for scuba and underwater photography. I'm hoping to learn, and do some shopping for gear, through this site.
dylanear 0 Posted June 9, 2013 Hi! I'm Dylan. I'm currently living in Vancouver BC, but most of my diving experience is in Australia/NZ/Cook Islands (Advanced Open water). I have an old Olympus Tough-6000 in an Ikelight housing, wide angle wet lens, S&S YS-110a strobe and tray/arms. I've just ordered a E-PL1/PT-EP01 combo which should be a nice upgrade for me at a budget price. Never found that old compact very good other than being tough. But I see there are also E-PM1/PT-EP06 combos at great prices as well and wonder if it would be worth cancelling the E-PL1 order?? Someday I want a housing for one of my Nikon SLRs or at least my OM-D, but I'm on a budget. I was hoping to post a topic comparing the pros/cons of the two cameras. But I don't have the ability to start a topic, hopefully that ability will get approved soon as I only have so long to cancel my current order!
enc 0 Posted June 10, 2013 Hello, my name is Elliott I'm from Ontario Canada. I've been diving since 2003. I shoot with a 5D MKII and Aquatica housing. I like to jump on my T16 Halcyon scooter and mount my camera and shoot video. I dive all year round and thank God for dry suits cause the great lakes' are cold. Just recently, I was in the Cuban archipelago of the Queen's Garden. The gardens had a rich marina bio diversity but don't take my word you can watch 60 mins. Fireman 0 Posted June 15, 2013 Hello I am Adam from Wisconsin, USA I have been diving for a year and got invovled with underwater photography almost immedaitely. For the most part I like to shoot video, right now I am using a SeaLife DC1200. Its not the greatest thing in the world, but its easy to handle in the water and does quality that is perfectly acceptable for online use. Just started using Studio 16 Ultimate for video editing, photos go through Picasa and Corel PaintShop to be polished up. ~Zissou~ 1 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) Hey everyone, I'm also a bit of a lurker, though only for the last 6 months. Some great advice and interesting topics here written by some pretty talented people. I'm a fellow ocean lover with a soft spot for classic marine documentaries. I'm more into video and just spent 4 months working as an underwater videographer on Koh Tao, though the word 'videographer' seemed to carry a bit of a bad stigma there, I loved ever minute nonetheless!Diving with a camera is my favourite sort of diving, no matter if I'm doing a wreck or UV dive, I don't know what to do with myself or my hands when I'm left without. Also interested in getting into a bit of photography, though my soft spot is for making video's. I may post my Koh Tao 'best bits' vid in some other section soon for some advice. Currently in the market for my first camera (tired of borrowing!), so heading to that section now.Looking forward to absorbing more wisdom of wetpixel. Cheers. mj3dvfx 0 Posted June 25, 2013 Hi everyone. My name is Matt. I'm based out of Los Angeles, CA. I've been diving for almost 3 years now. So far all of my diving has only been here in the Pacific, but my girlfriend and I are really looking to getting into some warm water soon. I'm sort of a novice UW photographer and I'm looking forward to continuing my learning process. Best, Matt

HippoFish 0 Posted July 6, 2013 Hey all, Long time lurker (I'm very much the shy-type) but have finally gotten around to signing up so I can ask the experts a question of two--and, hopefully one day become an expert and eventually answer a few questions myself! A little about myself: I've been diving ever since my father threw me into a swimming pool with a tank on my back about 35 years ago when I was just 7 years old. Eventually, he put on old Nikonos III in my hands and I've been an avid U/W photographer since then. Unfortunately, we only take one dive-trip a year, so I'm still very much an amateur but it's still what I live for. I finally gave in a few years ago after nearly a decade of fighting the temptation to go over to the digital world and ended up getting an Olympus E620 and have been quite happy with it. I've been trying to deal with one pretty major issue with it ever since I got it but I'm guessing this isn't the right place to discuss it. If I can just figure out how to start a new thread (yeah, I really am that technologically unsavvy), I'll go over to the "Digial SLRs/Housings" section and ask there. And let me just say here: huge "Thank-you" to all of you for putting out so much great information over the years! I never would have known where to begin in the digital world without all of you here at Wetpixel! Thanks, HF
