advice on photo

I like the subject and the background, but the foreground is distracting and the fish is dead center. I would prefer this shot taken closer so as to reduce or eliminate the foreground entirely, and have the position of the fish on one of the "thirds".

As for this picture itself, a simple crop removing the foreground and putting the fish off center will improve this shot immensely.

Hi. Welcome to wetpixel.

Nice exposure, (barely blew out the white band, but saved a lot of shadow detail that way), nice focus, nice clarity.

I to like the subject and setting, but I would do a couple of things differently, for shooting.

I think it often looks better if you get down as close to even, or sometimes below, the horizontal level of the subject, so you are looking flat or up at it. The slight downward angle of your shot, I think detracts from connecting with the subject.

Also, the angle of the fish's head, is dead straight on, so you don't get any sense of a face. I generally prefer at least somewhat of an angle, of the fish more from the 3/4 front, or side...

Hope this helps.

Don
